Strengths: Easy to setup.
Weakness: The radio is completely inadequate.
The radio is completely inadequate. I also have the WET54GS5 which costs about $20 more and has a 5 port switch included - but the radio is completely different. I did a site survey using both devices... The WET54GS5 got MUCH better signal from the six or so wireless networks it found - whereas the WET54G only found a few of the networks and much less signal strength - even though the wireless...
Strengths: Very easy to setup.
Weakness: none that I've found.
Purchased to connect my xbox to my wireless router. The two devices are roughly 35 feet from each other and cross two interior walls. Xbox Live performance is very good. I've served a number of games with 6 to 8 players and no one has reported any performance delays.
Strengths: Straightforward configuration for extending your wireless network to another wired setup. Easy web interfaces. Supports the strongest encryption available
Weakness: Easy set-up wizard did not work for me. Pricey
Have a wired subnetwork that you need to connect to a wireless router? This product is for you. The easy set-up wizard doesn't work - but that's not an issue as the web admin interface is more than sufficient. Product supports B and G networks, and the strongest WPA encryption available today. Through the web interface, I was able to get up and running, with encryption, in under 15 minutes. This...
Strengths: It has good range and is pretty fast. Worked without a hitch with my Linksys WRT54GL router. After you set it up, you can just forget about it! Runs Linux. Uses a web interface and supports WPA.
Weakness: It's expensive and the narrow base makes it easy to tip over if you want to stand it up. Mine came with a firmware that's 2 years old. Competition has built-in ethernet switch for the same price.
This device worked right out of the box. I had put off installing it after I got it, dreading that it would be a long and arduous task, but in the end, I got it up and running in less than 20 minutes. The setup wizard isn't particularly useful but you can get along just fine without it. To configure the device, all you need to do is plug it into your router/switch, fire up your favorite browser...
Strengths: Worked right out of the box. Hasn't failed me yet....no reboots needed in first month.
Weakness: Expensive.
I bought this for a client that refused to allow me to hook up a wired solution even though the wires were in place. Unit worked as promised right out of the box. I think in the end I could have used a device meant for hooking up a game console in this manner but I went with what the manufacturer (of the unit being connected) recommended.
Strengths: It supposedly does what it suppose to do...
Weakness: Item was DOA, Only has one ethernet connection.
The Linksys Bridge Setup could not be accessed by the the Web-Based Browser Utility. The CD-Utility would access it some of the time, but this utility does not allow one to set the password, or change the channel. And, even after reconfiguring my wireless router to the preset channel in the utility the bridge still would not function. Device would not reset, when reset button was pressed. Linksys...
Strengths: I purchased Linksys WET54G Wirelss Bridge , so that I could hook up my Slingbox AV. My wireless router is too far from my satelite dvr reciver. The WET54G worked great, connecting my slingbox.
Weakness: It takes time to set up, but the technical support is 24/7. Be patient and use Linksys support if you have problems setting it up.
It is a good product which helps in extending your wireless signal in your home. You can also hotwire game systems to it to get your on-line gaming to work. This is a reliable product, with very good technical support.
Strengths: Easy setup (if you're a Windows fan...) Nice GUI, easy configuration, no maintenance required.
Weakness: Looses signal randomly. Maybe it's just me but (access to bridge configuration...STOPS?!)
I had been using the Linksys bridge to connect my wireless router to my next-door neighbors open wireless network (haha...no not stealing...technically) and it worked smooth. (Knowledge of routing definitely was key in this area) One day though, I lost connection to the wireless network, and I tried to access the config, but...wasn't able to? It just -can't- get to the config page...not sure what...
Strengths: For the period of time when it worked it provided a fast connection.
Weakness: Would not work with Linux even though was supposed to be OS independent. Doesn't work at all now.
I originally bought this so that I could connect a desktop PC to my wireless network on a machine that dual boots Windows XP and Xandros (Linux). I did not want to have to go through the hassle of configuring other wireless devices under Linux, and this thing is supposed to work with anything that uses an ethernet port - PC running any OS, X-boxes, network printers. For awhile I was able to get...

resets itself
Strengths: setup was okay
Weakness: resets itself every five minutes.
Works okay, _except_ for resetting itself every five minutes. Could not find a fix for that so went out and got hawking bridge/ap which works just great so far. To summarize, stay away from this one until they post a fix.
