Description
The Ultra RangePlus Wireless-N Broadband Router is really three devices in one box. First, there's the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect to the network without wires. There's also a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100 Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices together. Finally, the Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection.

Strengths: Nice design and good navigation speed (when it's up..)
Weakness: Sometimes, with no particular reason it drops the connection.
I don't know why. Sometimes during your navigation, seem that THIS rouer drops the connection. If I try to connect my laptop directly to my DSL modem I can navigate fine. And I'm not alone. Look at here: forums.linksys.com/lin... and as you can see NO REPLY from LinkSys
Strengths: Easy to set up
Weakness: This is not a stable unit!!
We have been looking for a wireless N router with reasonable price so we tried this WRT160N. The set up process was smooth without any problem however the status of this unit was not stable. Sometimes it took too much time to connect with our DSL. Appearly it did not really work well as expect, so we end up return this product.
Strengths: It was easy to setup. It was sleek. The signal was very good. My PC always got connected.
Weakness: None
I bought this router 3 months ago. I got DSL service from AT&T. It was easy to setup and it worked well with AT&T's DSL modem. The signal strength was very good, my PC hadn't have any problem to connect to the internet. I would recommend this router.
Strengths: Range, Speed, Ease of Use, Appearance, Price
Weakness: None so far.
I have been buying so many different Wireless-N routers to try and find the right one. I think this may be it. First, the price is great for what you get. Wireless N is definately faster than G. The range is great. I get a good signal throughout the house. The set up was fairly simple. The web page for configuring is easy to use. It also has QOS. This helps if you use VOIP. My calls have been...
Strengths: Style, strenght and speed
Weakness: Too bright flashing lights
Replaced a dying Linksys WRT54G. Very easy set up. All computers recognised the new router and so did the wireless printer. No more dead spots in the 3 story house.
Strengths: Works great right out of the box! Noticed slight speed bump. Setup Wizard now works with Macs!
Weakness: Setup Wizard CD only works with Macs with Mac logo on box.
The main problem with most routers is their difficulty to set up. Linksys has provided a Setup Wizard CD that up to now could only work with PCs. On a new release of this router, Macs have been included in the Setup Wizard CD. You must find the Mac logo on the box to confirm this. If not on the box, you can go to Linksys' website and download the Mac Setup Wizard software. I did notice a slight...
Strengths: DD-WRT with VPN works perfectly
Weakness: 802.11n is not fully supported in current v24 DD-WRT firmware, which makes older Linksys routers as practical, but cheaper.
Many people buy Linksys routers to use them with DD-WRT firmware. The router flashed with DD-WRT v24 (VPN version) works perfectly. I easily set up a router-to-router VPN with my office Linksys router following the DD-WRT wiki guide. I can now use the remote desktop securily (only local 192.168.2/1.x addresses are involved) to connect between office and home PCs. About speed. This router connects...
Strengths: Sleek design, quality name (Cisco), price
Weakness: None so far
Bought this 160N router to replace my old Belkin. Connection is stable, less rebooting than my old Belkin. The router has a sleek chassis with two internal antennas. The rear of the unit includes four 10-100 Lan, a WAN port, a recessed reset button, and a power jack. There's also a Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) button on the front of the unit that allows users to add wireless clients to the network...
Strengths: easy setup
Weakness: unstable, poor tech support
The setup was easy and seemed to go fine. But within hours of installation, the connection failed and I had to restart the router. This kept happening about 5 times per day. I reinstalled and called tech support but they would just make some minor tweaks in the settings and tell me that would fix it. After three calls to tech support I'm returning it. Perhaps a defective unit, perhaps indicative...
THE GOOD: The Linksys WRT160N comes in a compact, sleek design. It sports an easy-to-use Web interface and offers a good set of networking features. Its included software is very helpful for setting it up with both Macs and PCs. THE BAD: The Linksys WRT160N doesnt support the faster Gigabit standard for wired connection, nor does it have USB support. THE BOTTOM LINE: The Linksys WRT160N...

WRT160N halts 2-3 times a day
Strengths: sleek design
Weakness: completely dies 2-3 times a day
All of a sudden my network connection drops and I can't ping any addresses including router itself. No matter whether from wired or wireless connection. Then I go and unplug/plug in the router, and in about 2 minutes, everything is fine again. My router is running the latest firmware v1.02.2. Tech support is useless. First they advised to change MTU size, then to reload firmware, then to reload...
