The DI-514 combines the proven stability of 802.11b wireless technology and D-Link's own robust firewall security features. The DI-514 is ideal for those creating their first wireless network, as well as for more advanced users looking for additional management settings and policy-based content filtering. Filters can be set based on MAC address, IP address, URL and/or Domain Name. A simple yet intelligent, web-based setup wizard makes the DI-514 easy for any user to quickly and securely connect computers to share a high-speed Internet connection, files, resources, games or just to communicate. An integrated 4-port switch allows direct connection of up to four computers. Several wireless clients can also securely connect to the network using 64 or 128-bit WEP encryption. Weakness: Have to keep resetting my router and modem, causes network crash.
I bought this router because of the D-Link brand name. It worked fine intially but later on I learnt that it was casing network connection drops. This did not happen when I hardwired my modem to my computer. I had to keep power cycling my router and modem. Totally frustrating. The tech support people simply asked me to download Service Pack 4.
Strengths: It works adequately as long as it's not in a mode that crashes your system.
Weakness: NMI parity errors freeze your system. NO TECH SUPPORT.
For 3 months I have been pleading with D-Link to fix their buggy software. For 3 months I have heard nothing. Not only does their product cause system crashes with NMI parity errors, they won't even try to support the customer. Strengths: great features and good interface
Weakness: low signal strength
This router is very small. Its also very cheap and has a good interface. setting up wep was simple and i was pleased with its overall stability. I never encountered any problems with it. the only weakness is that the signal strenth barely leaves the house. It could just be my location. And having a signal stay inside a house is a blessing in disquise to keep wardrivers out of your network
Strengths: IP association with Mac adress

This product is good only to be used as a target at the firing range. Every time I want to send a file trough a service using http protocol it crash. Also, some time the menu in the config don't show correcly. The mac adress filtering lock the wired part of the network. I won't recommand any D-link product as I got the same network crashing problem with an other wired model.
