Strengths: * Comes in a nice box. * Has got great looking red and green lights. * Cheap. * Good range (while it lasts)
Weakness: * The one push setup button doesn't work. * Belkin Tech support has no experience with this product. * Saving settings doesn't work 9 out of 10 times. * Very unstable * Webinterface is the worst
After purchasing 8 of these boxes based on the technical specs, I was in for a major disappointment. The Belkin is supposed to be easy to setup as a Range Extender (only when using an unsecured Wifi AP). Unfortunately, the quick setup procedure doesn’t work. So I had to go through the webinterface. Accessing the web interface is a nightmare. Every couple of minutes, it drops the connection,...
Strengths: Easy to use web interface; doubles as an access point when range extender function is not needed; can use any antenna with an SMA-type connector; low power comsumption; generates no noise.
Weakness: Included detachable antenna provides excellent performance, but could be longer
I was searching for a wireless repeater to extend the range of my WRT54GS router, and the Belkin F5D7132 fills this role perfectly! I found it very easy to setup out of the box, and the included ethernet patch cable allowed me to quickly configure it as either a range extender or access point, among other options. This device is very light weight and compact, and can be wall mounted. Compared...
Strengths: Compact design Easy setup IF you're connecting to an unprotected network with a fairly strong signal (use quick start guide).
Weakness: Setup is more involved if you are connecting to a secure network.
I bought this product to increase the signal strength in a part of my home that was not getting a very stable connection. I have a 64-bit WEP enabled LAN, so the set up was not as easy as in the "Quick Start Guide." I had to find the user's manual on the included CD and input specific settings in order to set up the extender. This involves attaching the range extender to your computer with a CAT5...
Strengths: -Very simple to use -Took a total of 5mins to figure out and setup -Can be used as an AP or repeater -Compact and broadcast good signal -Lifetime warranty
Weakness: -Too bad they don't make metal cases like Netgear used to -Could look more attractive?
This Range extender/access point does everything it stated and exactly what I needed it to do. It was very easy and fast to setup. No complains from me, I believe it is a great product and would recommend it to anyone who's thinking about purchasing one. I noticed a certain "software engineer" on Amazon had a hard time figuring it out and couldn't get it to work. It could be that he got a...
Strengths: works if it will connect
Weakness: terrible connection problems
You have to try numerous times to get this device to connect to your wireless router or modem when the antennas are literally only inches apart. It does work if you can finally get it to connect. You have to reconnect it EVERY TIME you reset your modem or router. Most of the time it won't connect at all. It won't connect to my new modem at all! I would give this product less than 1 out of 5. This...
Strengths: Unique Functionality. This unit can be used as an ethernet to WIFI bridge as well.
Weakness: Not durable. After one month it needed to be unplugged and restarted almost daily.
This unit worked once setup via web interface and static IP address. Worked great for a about a month. The signal was definitely improved in the corners of my house. But we had to climb up and reset this box daily. We replaced this box with a linksys game adapter WGA600N (not the lousy linksys range extender) and connected a 2nd WifiRouter in the remote area of my house. The stability of the...
Strengths: Low price.
Weakness: signal boost is minimal.
This product is OK if you need a slight signal boost. I have a netgear G router that was having difficulty getting to a PC in the basement (the router is on the ground level). While the signal was improved with the belkin range extender it was still nowhere near what I would get if I just moved the PC to another part of the basement. I have not tried any other range extenders, but I think I will...
Strengths: Easy setup via auto-connec -- slightly more complex with security invoked. Strong signal.
Weakness: Some quirks in setup procedures
I'm using mine in repeater mode as a range extender; this unit can also be used as an access point. A small quirk in my own setup is that I have a non-broadcasting SSID with characters inside -- e.g., abc@def. Before trying auto connect, you must of course reset your wireless temporarily to broadcasting mode. When the auto connect button is then invoked, it does find the network and sets up the...
Strengths: Works. Easy set up for open network.
Weakness: Set up for secured network require software installation on host computer.
This device works as advertised: extend the range of a wireless network. Set up for open network is simple: place it at a location with good signal, turn it on, and it will acquire the network parameters from the router. After that, it appears as a clone AP (access point) except with a different MAC address. Setup up for secured network requires (wired) connection to the built-in ethernet port,...
The Belkin Wireless G Universal Range Extender a wireless router that can be connected to an existing wireless network to increase the wireless coverage. The router utilizes 802.11g technology with backwards compatibility to support a combination of 802.11g and 802.11b technology. It also has an access point mode allowing it to be connected to a wired router to add Wi-Fi capabilities to the...

Good Product, Poor Documentation
Strengths: Strong, reliable connections. Low price.
Weakness: Documentation is useless if you use security on your wireless network.
I wanted to use this unit as a range extender to extend the range of my existing wireless network. Belkin says this product can be setup as a range extender in 5 minutes with one touch of a button. This is true, but only if you TOTALLY DISABLE SECURITY on your wireless network. If your network is wide open to anyone in range then Belkin's "One Button Configuration" will automatically detect your...
