Strengths: awesome sound
Weakness: technically CRAP
when I brought these home, I was in love. Blew away everything else that I had heard under $200. But 3 months after buying them, the sub stopped working. After a couple months of waiting for Altec Lansing, I received a new set. 3 months later, same problem. Altec has discontinued these because of the serious design flaw. If you own these for any amount of time, you will fall in love with them....
Strengths: Hometheatre designed; beautiful sound reproduction with thumping "real" bass and beautiful, piercing highs. Can envelop large rooms with surrounding sound.
Weakness: With the beautiful sound this produces, there is simply no weakness.
Altec Lansing's 641 are simply the best multimedia speakers you could ever purchase, with higher-end sound reproduction than Logitechs cheap Z-560s, which has problems with the Subwoofer blowing, and Klipsch's 4.1 that are sadly over-rated by computer geeks. Design: The 641's are designed not only for your small, crammed computer room, but for your large living room as well. They're really...
Strengths: Nice high & low reproduction Good power rating RMS
Weakness: Midrange could be a bit better A bit on the large side
I've tracked these things down for quite a bit to pick up on yet another of Altec Lansing's productions. I can't say I'm displeased though. The Sub Box may be huge but it does a great job using the dual 6.5" speakers. Some complaints are said below about it not "bumping" The bass reproduction is tight which for many wont suit the needs of listening to Luke and 2 Live Crew. If definition is a big...
Strengths: GREAT sound.Killing lows and piercing highs.Lots of power.Clear and rich.Looks great also.Costs nothing.
Weakness: Not a 5.1(front center makes alot of difference).Wires not detachable.Only two wall-mount pieces.
Enya,I'm sorry to tell u,but u are n00b :`( 1)Not 200 watt, but 400.Thats what it says on the box,and as my ears are hurting when I turn them to max,I believe.Anyway, thats enough even for my big living room. 2)ROFL,ROFL,and again,ROFL!!!!!!THX does not contain any clearly listed requirements,it only means "tested and aproved by Lucasfilm",nothing more.It was invented in 1982.The speakers without...
Strengths: subwoofer looks like a computer... if that is anything to be proud of?
Weakness: Not enough room to list, refer below
Weaknesses: 1)200W RMS TOTAL system power... that means each sub is about 40-50 W rms.... for altech's flagship speakerset, that is TERRIBLE 2)Not THX certefied... never buy a set of speakers and pay more than $150 if they are not THX certafied. THX = good speakers, end of story. 3)the sattalites are hideously large, as well as the sub (the sub is almost the size of a computer) 4)propietary...
Strengths: Powerful. Powerful bass, clear, crisp sound, even when you play it REAL LOUD!
Weakness: Might cause hearing loss or brain damage at high volume.
OK, don't worry about burning disks to plug into your living room stereo no more. This one will drive out the old lady, kids, dogs, mice, roaches and all the other pests. I had a pair of 621s before this and I can tell you I was getting scared just unloading the 641 heavy (no kidding) hardware out of the box. Watch out for loose stuff falling as the volume increases. Was that the phone ringing or...
Strengths: Bass: You can feel the air in front of you move when you pump up the bass. Treble: Sharp and clean. Power: A Barry Bond's bat to the head if you don't check the volume before you load up a song.
Weakness: No wireless remote.
I tried to make these speakers sound poor; to bring out some imperfection in the tone and I could not do it. When a note is played you hear it until it's done resonating, there is absolutely no degradation of sound. Best personal speakers that I have ever heard and for a good price. If this is in your price range then there is no other option.
Strengths: hahah this is a piece of crap compare to the logitech z560 cant even bump
Weakness: everything on it is a weakness it a piece of crap
i bought the 641's and when i got it the sub was fine until i used it about a month and the sub sounded like crap i think that it blew up its a piece of crap
Strengths: High quality - High fidelity sound. Exceptionally clear- deep bass and quality highs.
Weakness: None
I am so glad I followed the advice of other pleased listeners of this high quality system. Be prepared to pay high shipping charges due to this 40 pound heavy weight system. But it worth every cent. For $112 (plus $20 shipping), I got a steal. CD's, DVD's and Games sound so great, I hardly use my home system.
Altec Lansing 4.1 Digital Speaker System
Strengths: Top-notch sound quality.
Weakness: None.
IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING THESE SPEAKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I spoke to an Altec Lansing tech today and he told me a very important thing about them. The speakers had a flaw in powering down the system that made the subs die in about an 8 month periond.....which most of the users have had happen. If you used ONLY the remote to turn off the system and left the power switch located on the back of the...
