must say , i sell this product in iran and there is ASIAN SPECIAL EDITION and was made in malaysia. and i pay 35$ for this in iran.
Strengths: EAX, price
Weakness: 16-bit, no s/pdif connector, (?) drivers
Bought from NewEgg - works fine, especially good for games with EAX. I've avoided loading any software except the basic drivers and haven't had any problems. It would be nice if an optical s/pdif connector - I think there's a daugter card, but I can't find it.
Strengths: Great sound, especially in games like HitMan 2!
Weakness: Can't always figure out how to get 5.1 mode to work.
To get 5.1 mode I have to change a setting in a creative playcenter application that basically lessens the sound of one speaker into the 2 rear speakers so the center channel plays. I think its something about how many channels an mp3 could be broken down into but that setting has to be changed in an application? Also had this issue in dvd's but once I figured out how to get 5.1 working the sound...
Strengths: Cheap! If you are looking to just put sound in a computer these days. it doesn't get any more cost efficient than this.
Weakness: It is a little picky as to which PCI slot you put it into. and it can be a bit of a pain on installing because of that.
Once all was said and done, when i got it installed. it worked like a charm. perfect for gaming. doesn't need to be much better than this. unless you want to spend $200 on an Audigy.
Strengths: Quite powerful but slightly blur when i turn it to maximum limit volume
Weakness: difficult to setup and quite trublesome with the settings on my PC
When the first time i bought this card , i thought it will be good and better than my old turtle beach sound card. But , when i fixed up every thing of it in my PC , then i started to regret .or home use and bassic features , this can be recommended for less demanding user . If for serious usage of music recording and converting files , this will not be recommended .For me , I will only recommen...
Strengths: makes sound
Weakness: not very good sound
This was a pain to setup. The drivers aren't on creative's web site, go to their UK site to get drivers. Once you do get them, and play around gettin them to work, the sound is very disapointing. No where near the quality of my 4 year old Aureal Vortex, to bad that company is out of business. It was a waste of my Monsoon speakers to hook them to this creatively crackling card.
Strengths: A cheap way to have 5.1 surround.
Weakness: Poor sound quality at the highest volume. Complicated driver. Nearly impossible to update the driver on the internet.
I use this sound card in 5.1 with my Creative Labs 6.1 6600 speakers. It is functional and works well so long as the volume is not maxed out. Unless you don't really care about great sound quality, than the Sound Blaster Audigy is the obvious choice. The Sound Blaster live comes with the quality you pay for and now that the Audigy 2 has been realesed, the Audigy 1 is much less expensive and is...
Strengths: great price...good sound quality
its not the best out there, but look at the price...under 30...just built my first pc and this card made sound 10x better...if you are looking for inexpensive card...here you go...easy to setup too!!
Strengths: EAX...EAX...EAX...EAX...need i say more?
This card is awesome. I don't know why the other reviews were so bad. This card uses Creative Labs new EAX technology that is earth shattering. Ever played a game with an EAX option in the sound settings? Well, no you can use it. Thief, an little bit old but still awesome, uses EAX and it is unbelievable. Nutshell: voices around the corner different from voices right in front of you, sound in a...
Creative Sound Blaster Live 5.1 Sound Card
Strengths: Excellent for the price! (This review is for the RETAIL item).
Weakness: None yet.
If only you are like me, CHEAP, always wait for rebates! 5.1 experience is cool! Got some problems with the configuration in Windows Media Player 9.0 but after some retries, finally figured it out. 16-bit is fine with me, for now. Great when paired with the Inspire T5400 after just using the T2500 and T2900 2.1 speakers. Maybe next year i'll get the high-end stuff.
