Strengths: Sound quality!, input options
Weakness: Bundled software currently conflicts with ATI's All in Wonder 9700 video card tv shift/record feature.
Installation was a snap, even though there were quite a few connections to make and three parts to install. Drivers and software worked flawlessly first try with none of the nightmares I've seen other people complain about with this 'un. Unfortunately, the extra software conflicted with my ATI video card's tv record capability. The sound wouldn't pause when I paused TV and when I resumed video...
Strengths: Very good sound quality. Can mix stereo signals into 6.1.
Weakness: High price. Only 1 effect at a time. You have to buy a seperate front panel if you want it in black. The recording software isn't very good.
If you want this card, buy the standard version. The Platinum version is supposed to be for people making music, because it has more hook ups. The recording software (from what I can tell) was packaged with it just to be added to the label on the box. Creative's music player is pretty good, but you can only apply 1 effect at a time and it doesn't seem there's a way to go back over recordings and...
Strengths: Great sounding, especially when connected to a good speaker system. Also has good array of output aand input connections
Weakness: No rca audio out connection. Caused IRQ and driver confilcts on my first install, would crash when trying to open settings. Now it works well on my new computer.
Great sound card overall, especially for use with high end and surround sound speakers. Many connections, can be used with just about anything. DVD audio playback a plus too.
Strengths: works better than factory motherboard sound cards. Installed great on windows XP
Weakness: cost about 10 times the price of generic sound card About the same price as a quality mother board
Has great sound fields it creates. Get out your retail Cd's out cuz most Mp3's just don't have the quality to keep this sound card alive. Have not used the 6.1 sound setting yet.
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum - 6.1...
Strengths: Great sound, plenty of extra software.
Weakness: Not much of a weakness but the link cable from the sound card to the audigy 2 drive wasn't rounded.
This sound card is great so long as you have a good sound system to hook up to it or just like the extra interface. Extra software is useful to have if you like editing.
