Strengths: Good price, fast scanning ability
Weakness: I have not found any yet..
Great scanner for a great price. It has sleek look, adjustable lid for scanning books, and you can also scan slides. Nice feature. It is great for home and office use. I highly recommend it.
Strengths: Quick scans at high quality resolution. Scanning of pictures is a plus but probably won't do much of that.
Weakness: A bit larger than average and somewhat noisy.
I finally got tired of buying cheap scanners that were difficult to use and failed within a few months. Stand alone scanners seem to be a thing of the past and this one is one of the best ones remaining.
Strengths: Sharp styling, scans slides. film strips etc Light weight Scans fast and at sevearl resolutions Easy to make copies Scans printed material and graphics and OCR works better than my last scanner
Weakness: Connections easily come disconnected at the top end that is not visible in my setup
I would recommend this scanner to anyone (In fact, I just did to my neighbor) It is reasonably priced, has best resolution up to 9600 dpi and made by a reputable company --HP with all their support and warrranty Scan quality is supberb for price range.
Strengths: Easy to use and set up. Nice performance.
Weakness: Would be nice if power was supplied by USB.
I would recommend this product. We have owned cheaper scanners before and they usually produce scans that look like they came from cheap scanners. This is a very good product.
Strengths: good resolution and easy to operate
Weakness: size is little big. make a little bit noise in scanning
The shipping is right on time. The status of the merchandise is very easy to track. This scanner is easy to operate with good resolution. The menu is very helpful in installing this scanner. Overall, this scanner is very good.
Strengths: Scans quite fast.... And I guess that's it. Did not scan in color because we do not have a need (if any) for color scanning
Weakness: 1.) Res. for grayscale images is sub-par 2a.) No soft-/hardware options for scanning transparent obj. 2b.) Neg. slide scanner needs to be covered (w/ blank paper) before scanning transparent obj.
For those working in an academic research environment: DO NOT BUY! Explanation: A 5 x 7" sheet of autoradiography film was scanned at varying res. (200, 300, 600). A particular set of doublet bands could very noticeably be seen on film. End result: The bands appeared as one big, slightly pixelated band after the scanner software automatically converted it to jpg. format. In other words, images...
Strengths: Overall Scanning, OCR, Looks work real well with MACs
Weakness: black USB cord is unsightly
An incredible value. For under $100 you get professional quality color and BW scanning and the nifty timesaving of OCR technology-all in a package that looks well sitting next to a MAC. Awesome. I own a print advertising company called Advantage Advertising in Colorado and this scanner is EXACTLY what I needed!
Strengths: ease of use
Weakness: unknown yet
great price because periphirals become obsolute so quickly. serves my purpose for data or photo input to desktop or laptop. good buy and performance easy install
Strengths: Versatility, usability, meets all my home & office needs. Especially like the ability to scan 35mm negatives
Weakness: A little larger (actual unit) than I expected, but not a big hindrance
I don't do very much photo printing as compared to image sharing/use etc, so the 2400x2400 dpi suited my needs to a tee. I highly recommend this product for both basic scanner users and power users.

HP (Hewlett-Packard) Scanjet 3970 Flatbed Scanner
Strengths: Scanned output quality
Weakness: User's manual skimpy but adequate for MAC
Even though this is my first scanner and the user's manual is written primarily with a Windows machine in mind, I have encountered no problems after only a few hours of experimentation. The set-up was easy. The details of all of the capabilities are still unfamiliar to me. However, I scanned several different types of documents with very satisfactory results. In addition, if I had not had this...
