Strengths: Extremely easy to install and get set up. Small, compact and light, but with all the bessl and whistles.
Weakness: None that I have found so far.
I purchased this unit to replace a Linksys BEFSR41 that bit the dust. I had a network set up, 2 computers and a game console, and when the Linksys died I was unsure what the problem was so we went without a network for several months while I worked on the problem. I have a neighbor who knows networks and he helped me troubleshoot and find the problem and he suggested this unit. Installation was a...
Strengths: Great router with VPN Support. Very well made and comes full of other features.
Weakness: No Wireless Feature.
I bought this router for my home network and I like the VPN support and how simple it is to setup. Well made and it stays cool. I paid about $55 for it and I think the price is right. Good work D-Link.
Strengths: Very simple setup instructions were easy to follow very good quality of product
Weakness: none
This was my first home network. I purchased the product for price and options offered. Been using for 2 works and have had no issues. I have used the two internet modes with no problems. Primary use cable. When cable went down dialup worked fine.
Strengths: Compact and secure
Weakness: Especially customer service
I ordered it online. Its customer service was not that excellent. I wanted to order a wireless router and was not sure about if it is. The online information was misleading, too. After I got this item, I called D-Link. For more than 2 hours, no one picked up the phone. Anyway, this is not a wireless router. Although it is not very convenient to use without long cables, it works fine.
D-Link Express EtherNetwork Security Router
Strengths: D-Link quality, simple setup and serial port for dial up modem.
Weakness: None apparent. Although I wish D-Link would offer a wireless router with a serial port.
I bought this router because it has a serial port for connecting a dial-up modem in addition to the usual ethernet port for a DSL or cable modem. I want the dial-up capability for backup and for those occasions when I want to share a dial up connection to the internet. The DI-804 provides SPI and NAT protection as well as MAC filters, IP filters, etc. The DI-804 worked perfectly out of the box....
