This card has issues in Centos 5.4 environment...
Strengths: Supports SAS drives, is in stock and doesn't cost $500
Weakness: Centos 5.4 doesn't support. Drive performance was well below 300mbps rate on Centos 5.4
Using Fedora 13 as base OS to run KVM for 3 virtual machines. I used Centos 5.4 before switching to Fedora 13 because the drive performance under the virtual machine was below 100mbps throughput on Centos 5.4 Having stability issues with the RAID array now. Drives being yanked are tested without any issues.
