THE BEST Value for an AMD dual Core!
Rating: 5 Star Review
Strengths: EXTREMELY fast, dual core, 64 bit compliant, plenty of room for gaming and future computing, and the "boasting" rights!
Weaknesses: None so far. Has been very stable since I've had it and I use it to play Oblivion. I'm sure it will continue serving me well.
Review: I highly recommend this CPU for anyone looking for a value fast CPU especially for gaming. The included heatsink is pretty nice, though it is too bad that the fine print says that you void your warranty if you use any other heatsink or cooling product. Other than that, AMD has done another great job in this CPU set. I LOVE IT!
Fast and cheap
Rating: 4 Star Review
Strengths: price is very good as is speed
Weaknesses: not quite as nice as core2duo.
Review: These amd chips are a great bang for the buck. AMD lowered their prices to compete with core 2 duo which is probably still a better chip but for the price these amd chips can't be beat.
Yet Another Great AMD Processor
Rating: 4 Star Review
Strengths: 64 Bit Vista compatible; AM2 socket; fast and reliable multitasking
Weaknesses: None
Review: This processor runs great in my Mini-ATX case. System is running dual TV tuner cards; able to record on one tuner, display the other TV on the LCD and still run other light load background applications with no problems. The processor has handled all my expectations with room to go for more.
AMD Athlon 64 x 2 4200+ Dual Core Processor Socket AM2
Rating: 4 Star Review
Strengths: Fast and with the dual processors runs much cooler than my prior AMD 2800+
Weaknesses: None that I know of.
Review: I have only been using the AMD Dual Core processor a short time but I find that I can run two programs at the same time and they still run fast.
HOT buy, literally!
Rating: 4 Star Review
Strengths: 3.2 ghz, dual core, 2mb L2 cache
Weaknesses: extremely hot, not too well on over clocking as some models
Review:  I bought this processor to replace my amd athlon x2 5200+ processor. I had my 5200 overclocked from 2.6 to 3.04g so i figured i could clock this one pretty high too. As soon as i put this sucker in (used a stock amd cooler which i had from my 5200, i used a zalman one on my 5200) this thing was too hot to operate. Even in just windows vista not overclocked it as running around 50 something...
Follow up to previous review
Rating: 4 Star Review
Strengths: Fast, runs cool
Weaknesses: Problems with some games
Review:  This is a follow-up to a previous review I posted on the Athlon 64 X2 4800+. Since I have been running this processor for a couple of weeks now, I have found some problems with poor gaming performance. This appears to be a well recognized issue with the dual core processors and there have been a number of suggested fixes. In all, it has been a little frustrating to actually see game performance...
Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Socket AM2 Review
Rating: 4 Star Review
Strengths:  At 2.6GHz per core, it's faster than all of AMD's original X2 series of dual-core CPUs. It was also announced on the same date as the...
Weaknesses: about the only task we don't recommend it for is extreme gaming.
Review:  It performed so well, Otherwise, it will give you fast performance at significant cost savings. The best example is our multitasking test. The X2 5000+ finished our test a few seconds faster than the Athlon 64 FX-60, which costs roughly $125 more. And even where it didn't win, the X2 5000+ turned in strong scores. Both its SysMark 2004 scores and its times on our multimedia tests trailed the...
Maybe in a year it will be better.....
Rating: 3 Star Review
Strengths: Speed, multitasking, features, 64 bit
Weaknesses:  Game playing. At this point, I don't recommend this CPU if you are going to be playing games. It has horrible support for a lot of today's...
Review:  I've had this chip since November, and I've tried to give both AMD and Nvidia time to fix the bugs, but I'm just sick of all my games crashing, running choppily, and having weird speed ups during gameplay. I've tried every fix on internet forums that are supposed to help my problems, and still nothing has worked. I installed this on a new computer, with a new install of...
Great processor and a perfect overclocker
Rating: 4 Star Review
Strengths: Price vs performance
Weaknesses: Cool'n'Quiet does not mix well with OC'ed processor
Review:  Great processor. Running it at 3360 Mhz (210 x 16) with a little more voltage running through it. With the Tuniq Tower (low) it runs at 37C idle and 48C load. One thing that i completely forgot about was how Cool'n'Quiet would work with this processor. In XP when enabled it will default to its original multiplier (x12) so it will negate all the benefits of an overclocked 5000+. Not a...
Great chip
Rating: 5 Star Review
Strengths: Solid performer. Highest stock clock speed for the 939 X2 besides the 4800
Weaknesses: None
Review: Ibought this from Mwave just after the price plummets to $242 (now $246). What a steal. this chip listed last month for $547. Solid dual core performance without the need to overclock.
conroe is better if you overclock
Rating: 4 Star Review
Strengths: reasonable price fast good compatible motherboard is cheap
Weaknesses: not as good as core 2 duo
Review: got it for cheap with free ecs motherboard. Is fast out of box. Easy installation, stock fan is pretty good. However when overclocked, conroe E6600 smokes it. However if you buy intel, compatible good motherboards are expensive.
AMD x2 4200+ way better than expected
Rating: 4 Star Review
Strengths: relatively low price, energy efficient, super fast
Weaknesses: overclocking not satisfactory, low cache mem compared to upper level toledo model, included fan not so good (but doable)
Review:  I bought this cpu to upgrade from my 1year old celeron D 345 (3.06 GHz), and it's really huge improvement. Since mobo, ram (ddr-> ddr2) are also changed, the huge improvement could be natural, but I think the mostly this cpu plays a really important role. In addition to multi-tasking, it surely does very well for a single job. I think, it's comparable to intel's C2D E6300 or so....
Athlon 64 X2 4200+
Rating: 4 Star Review
Strengths: Inexpensive - Low operating Temp With Supplied Stock Cooler - Energy Efficient At 65Watts - Overclocks Well - G2 Stepping
Weaknesses: None For The Price
Review:  I own several AMD and Intel processor based computer systems and they both have there pro's and con's. By far the AMD 4200+ processor has the price advantage over the Intel processor. Runs cool, can easily hit 2.8 GHz with a good overclocking motherboard and is priced right for a budget build or HTPC computer. Installed this processor in a GIGABYTE GA-MA78GM-S2H for a nice HTPC...
