Strengths: When you consider how much this costs, the performance is great--a real value.
Weakness: "Sempron" name.. Not sure why people look down on it. No, it's not an A64, but you aren't paying that much for one either.
I use this processor in my computer at work. It's more than adequate. With only 512MB of system memory, I commonly have 2-4 applications going at once and rarely does the machine get bogged down. No, it's not silky smooth like a dual-core processor would be, but still very useable. These Semprons are great little processors. I would be hesitant to buy a Sempron processor with less L2 cache though.
Strengths: 512 KB l2 cache, operates @ 2 Ghz
Weakness: no sse2, operates @ 2 Ghz
not much to say when socket A is on its way out. but for those who still find that socket A processor can do many things for them and don't need any sse2 suuport will find out that this is the only socket A sempron that has 512 KB L2 cache. this cpu also operates @ 2 Ghz and for those who overclock will not get much out of this processor in term of overclocked speed to stock speed ratio. all in...
Strengths: fast, 512KB L2 Cache, quiet heatsink fan
Weakness: none so far
For the price I paid, I am really happy with this CPU. Even though it is one of Sempron family, this is the only CPU which has 512KB L2 Cache in the class. Actually, it is a Barton I think. This is cheaper and faster than Athlon XP 2500+ online. The heatsink fan included is quiet and does its job well. 3 years warranty is a plus. The CPU is great for mid-level gaming and everyday computing such...
Strengths: Decent performance for price Runs cool and quiet
Weakness: Not much faster than Durons
These are an improvement over their Duron counterparts and of course priced a little less than the Athlon XP's. Strange place to be in. I personally would go with the Durons but of course those are being phased out and these being phased in. With AMD64 chip prices falling it wouldnt hurt to buy those instead but if you are looking to save some money and get some good CPU power then this is a good...
Strengths: -Pretty inexpensive for a modestly powerful processor -Doesn't run that hot, nor does it require tons of power -Since it runs fairly cool, quite easy to run very silently. -Includes heatsink + fan
Weakness: -Somewhat expensive for a Sempron
An excellent low to low/mid grade processor. This would be perfect for general internet browsing, general office suites, light gaming, and most everyday applications. The only things it would be unsuited for would be really heavy gaming or photography/video editing (in which case your video card would probably cost twice as much as this processor.....). Purchased with a (cheap) motherboard at...
Strengths: Fast, stays cool, reliable
Weakness: little pricey for a mid-level CPU w/ limited FSB
A very good bargain CPU. It works perfectly on ASUS motherboard. This is a great alternative to 64 bit computers. Good for watching movies, internet, documents, etc.
Performance, Price, Quiet
Strengths: I use this in my Gaming/MediaCenter PC, I had a 2800+ Athlon Xp but this runs faster 333mhz front side bus, 512kb l2 cache and really it's an upgraded athlon barton core not duron
Weakness: none so far
I have 2 pc's one has an intel p4 2.8ghz this sempron 3000+ holds up to that processor. Using 2gb of ram I have had no problems with it in fact the only reason I upgraded from the 2800+ was the l2 cache increase from 256 to 512, and it does make a difference. The sempron can be purchased for as little as $69 on ebay and at other pricegrabber sellers. The supplied heatsink and fan are great but if...
