Strengths: Silient, acceptable speed, reliable & good price
Weakness: Not a choice for high 3D performing game
With the point of silent & reliable, this is a good choice for standard user or office use. But for the high 3D performing game , it may disappoint you. Overall, its still a good product for the price or performance.
Strengths: cheap and good
Weakness: not good for 3d multimedia work..
cheap and good very quiet ..i read about overclocking and tried it so even with overclocking its smooth..goes upto 40 degree with good thermal compound.. overall the best cpu for socket 754
Strengths: Reliable CPU at a good price.
Weakness: AMD's packaging has crumbly residue that may need to be cleaned off of CPU prior to installing.
I bought this CPU with the idea in mind to overclock it in an appropriate motherboard as it has a great reputation for increasing its clock speed. I haven't done that. Instead I bought a bargain board, and am running it at stock speeds. It has been smooth and performs reliably. Good for an inexpensive setup.
Strengths: 64 bit version for future OS upgrade when necessary. Palermo core makes for a cool running chip.
Weakness: Only 128k of cache.
Out of the box this outperforms my overclocked AthlonXP 2400 by a long shot! Stock cooler does well on this low power chip. I've read that some serious overclocking is possible with this, but haven't tried it just yet. I used this with a BioStar 6100-M7 board and it does very well. I'll be buying more of these since they are so inexpensive!
Strengths: Highly Overclockable; very cool.
Weakness: None compared to other Socket 754 chips.
Giving this processor less than 5 stars because it's not as fast as a $350 Socket 939 processor makes no sense. This baby is the best value you can get for your Socket 754 board. I have mine overclocked 27% to over 2 Ghz wirthout a hitch, and it runs idle at 30 Celcius, high stress test at 40 after a few minutes, and that's wuith the stock cooler (and Arctic Silver 5, but that's only a few...
Strengths: Ran well, descent performance, heat sink easy to install
Weakness: Motherboard didn't recognize without bios update
Overall I was quite pleased with this processor. My old socket A motherboard blew up, so I wanted to upgrade my processor at the same time. There's a noticeable performance increase from an old AMD Athlon 1700+ and the 64-bit capability is nice for the output. Fan was easy to install. Overall quite pleased. I was running it on an ultra cheap ECS 755-A2, which needed a bios update to recognize the...
AMD Sempron 2600+ Processor 64bit
Strengths: Cheap and reliable
Weakness: None
Brought retail chip that came with a decent heat sink. Built computer with a gigabyte motherboard. Recognized the chip once it boot up. Easy configuration with no hassle at all.
