I purchased this for a small office in 09/06 during a sale at Staples. We set it up, and started to print some sample documents. WOW, was it loud. Strengths: Inexpensive considering all the features, and once warmed up, prints super fast color.
Weakness: No form feed for envelopes or special paper. You have to readjust all the guides in the tray instead. Even then with the paper size set up properly, it still has issues with printing an envelope.
Got this for a client that really wanted the Brother MFC-9040DN, but because of the issues reported on that machine with regards to envelopes, he decided he wanted this machine. Strengths: Easy to setup, configure, and use. Good scanning capability and pc to fax is easy to use. Color laser printing is above average.
Weakness: 35 page tray will catch multiple pages from time to time. A little louder than most when it first starts up.
For a small office or team needing color laser printing and quality scanning capability this is a great machine for the money. Very easy to set up and configure. Software package worked well out of the box. PC to fax system works great. For the money it does as much or more than anything in its class.
