Strengths: Good quality prints. Reasonably priced.
Weakness: Streak marks on paper created by roller. Pricey inks
This is 3rd wide format printer I have bought and probably the 8th from HP. I prefer HP as you need worry about cleaning your cartridges. The printer size is decent as most of the bulky size is for the paper. They have streamlined this printer as small as they could have done. Print quality is excellent. You get true to life picture quality. Bear in mind, if you print a lot on large sheets your...
Strengths: Clean, elegant, gorgeous to look at; really. Easy setup.
Weakness: Give me a couple more inches. When HP allows for just a bit more width, one will have a very wallet friendly full scale plotter solution.
I intended to use this only occasionally, as a mini-plotter/large-format printer. It has now replaced my previous Epson inkjet as my default photo printer. First class, home-run product.
Strengths: This printer has far exceeded my expectations.
Weakness: The only drawback I've found so far is the huge size of that mother
All I can say about the quality of this printer is WOW. I would have NEVER done digital scrapbooking or desktop publishing with my other printers, as the color was never this good, and they all always had stripes or someother flaw in the printing. Every printer I buy, thinking I can print photos still leaves me buying prints online or from one of the stores.
Weakness: too problematic
There is a major design flaw on the ink cartridge carriage. The plastic clip that holds the ink cartridge spring breaks off after a few months of use. We had ours for less than 1 year. When the plastic clip breaks, the spring then punches through and cuts the wirings of the contacts to the cartridge. Thereby making the printer lose connection to the ink cartridge and making the 2 ink lights...
Strengths: It works quickly
Weakness: ENORMOUS - it adds characters. It truncates pages. Support is nowhere to be found.
I am hugely disappointed and irritated. Without support and being time poor this isn't funny. Normally troubleshooters deal with almost all problems. I would so like to find a human being to speak with and until such time as help is provided rage at HP's incompetence.
Power light flashes on for four seconds after being plugged in, then goes off. Power module light is on. Online support is a joke. In order for them to do a diagnostic the printer must be turned on.
The Deskjet 9800 is a general purpose inkjet printer from HP. Primarily designed for a medium amount of home/home office use, the 9800 allows you to print on a wide variety of paper sizes compared to the more basic budget models. Faster, and containing cartridges with 2-3x the ink capacity, the 9800 is not marketed towards those interested in business-as-usual productivity needs. While it can...

Medium format HP 9800
Strengths: Great-looking prints, up to 19"x13", relatively cheap.
Weakness: Very expensive supplies, relatively slow
Great Medium Format printer for a very reasonable price. The prints are great, especially digital photographs on HP Premium Plus Photographic Paper. I printed 6 MPixels pictures on 19x13 and they look just great. I now wish I had an 11 MPixel camera... Unfortunately, the supplies are very expensive for this printer. The ink is standard HP ink, but it runs out quite quickly when printing 19x13 or...
