Strengths: Quality of color photos. Quick and quiet.
Weakness: None.
I've had this printer for over a year. The ink cartridges are expensive, but you can find sales at major retailers, and get good buys on eBay. DO NOT EVER EVER EVER USE CANON "COMPATABLE" INK!!!!!!! Did this...and the color quality really stinks.....hence wasting your money. Buy genuine Canon ink. I've heard (thru other posts) that quality can also diminish if you don't use canon photo paper....
Strengths: Speed of printing photographs; Resolution/level of detail in photographs; separate 4x6 paper tray; direct digital camera printing via PictBridge
Weakness: Haven't found any as yet
I had been a confirmed Epson printer user for printing my digital camera photographs until I did some comparison prints between my 6-color Epson Photo 820 printer and my 4-color Canon i850 photo printer (which I use mostly for text). The Canon i850 photographs were superior to the Epson 820. So, I bought the new Canon i960 6-color photo printer through Dell. All of my photo printers have been...
Strengths: Hi resolution, individual ink tanks, no inline power brick, Hi-speed & Low-speed USB ports, borderless prints, photo ink, refillable ink tanks, ink tank fuel gauges, camera port, 4x6 photo paper
Weakness: 6 ink tanks, no centronics port, feeder tray in back requires more desk room, blue tinted B&W prints
Does a great job with color prints. Even better with Canon paper. There is a blue tint on B&W prints but who cares! Canon ink tanks are known to be refillable and there are several vendors selling kits to allow you to hold down printing costs. The only two things I really wish were different is that the paper feeder be in the front to save desk space and a centronics port available so I could...
Strengths: fast, individual ink tank system, quality, USB 2.0, borderless printing, and good software.
Weakness: OEM cannon ink is expensive. OEM canon photo paper is ridiculously expensive as well.
I bought it to replace my old Epson 875DC. I was replacing the ink tank of the Epson way too often. Compare to Epson 875DC, Canon i960 is faster, color is richer, more detailed, and cheaper (ink cartridge wise). I have heard that SOME aftermarket 3rd party inks are just as good as oem inks (some minor priting software tweaks may be needed to achieve the result). But I have not yet to try it out....
Strengths: REAL photo quality. Prints look excellent. Very quiet in silent mode. Canon quality(all thier products have been excellent for me) CHEAP INK Easy to use Decent selection of options in settings
Weakness: Kinda costly up front, (but for its top of the line standing, its actually very good) Canon ink's are formulated signifacntly different than most others. ill explain the drawback below.
Good- First id just like to say ive bought a few canon products over the last few years, and all of them have wow'd me. recently ive bought this printer, an i560(best value on the market in a printer imo, it prints damn near the quality of this for $100 less), and i bought an s400 elph 4 megapixel camera thats smaller than a small box of ciggarettes. it too performs awesome. Ive also owned a hp...
Strengths: Amazing picture quality.
Weakness: Not found yet.
I hate spending so much for ink cartridges. I have a few Lexmark printers because they were inexpensive but the cartridges weren't. The I960 cartridges are very inexpensive. I've seen generic ones for about 2 dollars each color, or about 11 dollars for originals. This will be worth it in the long run. Also I like the translucent ink tanks to confirm how much is in each. I think I can refill them...
Strengths: A wonderful, quiet, fast and extremely precise photo quality printer. Easy set-up. Interfaces seamlessly with Mac OS-X (from 10.2 to 10.3.2). Works exceptionally well with both PhotoShop and iPhoto.
Weakness: None...just a wish or 2 for future needs (see comments).
I performed extensive research for a photo printer and agonized for weeks before making a purchase. Price was less an issue than top-quality (customized photo-lab) results. This printer does not dissapoint. Over the years, I was heavily into professional-level landscape, scenic and nature photography, using a Canon A-1, a variety of (mostly Canon lenses) and (usually) K-64 slide film. My work,...
Strengths: Fast, quiet, excellent results, good price ($179 through dell with free shipping)
Weakness: My Olympus C-750 digital camera is not compatible for direct printing, but that is hardly an issue. Have to use Canon 4X6 paper in order to use the provided paper tray. Other papers are a bit larger.
I am thouroughly impressed and satisfied with this purchase. The 6 ink tray wells seems to be the way to go. I priced out 6 inks vs. HP's 3 cartridges (or was it 4?) and for the same amount of ink, HP's ink was like $20. more. Installation was a snap, software is easy to use, just can't beat this printer!
Strengths: Beautiful output. Rivals photo lab quality work! Very fast, prints 4 x 6 in less than 37 seconds!
Weakness: None.
My girlfriend has the Canon i550 and I loved the output and quality of the prints. Looking closely at the 4 x 6 prints, I could not distingush them from acutal photo lab prints! After working with the i960 for a couple of days, I must say that the 4 x 6 prints are spectacular. I can considered purchasing the HP 7650, but I felt that dedicated 6 tank printing and the speed at which the Canon...

Canon Bubble Jet i960 Photo Printer
Strengths: Great, Sharp Photos from 4x6 to 8x10. The 4x6 photo cartridge works very well for quick prints.
Weakness: None
I bought this printer primarily for digital photos and was sold on Canon when I saw the 6 separate ink tanks. When an ink tank runs dry, you are prompted to change it and then the print job will continue, even while in the middle of a photo print. The print still comes out flawless. You would never know that you changed a ink tank in the middle of the process. I always keep an extra cartridge or...
