Strengths: High quality photo prints- photo lab quality!
Weakness: Not the greatest print interface with iPhoto, but works great when using Photoshop Elements
1. The quality of the photos printed (usually 4x6) is amazing. I used Canon Photo Paper Pro with with this printer and the quality is above my expectations. 2. Very easy setup. 3. Works great with my Mac once I started using Photoshop Elements as I found the interface and page setup working with IPhoto to be quirky, for example trying to get 4x6 borderless photos. The Canon-supplied software for...
Strengths: Fast text printing, low cost consumables, great quality, flexible, easy to use.
Weakness: Odd-looking printer.
I spent A LOT of time looking at printers, and finally selected this one. My main priority was good, fast text printing, and this printer is great at that. Draft mode text looks just as good as standard mode text, but it is much faster. My second priority is low cost on consumables, and again this printer is great. Cartridges are $3-$4 from good ink resellers like AllstarInkjet.com Third on my...
Strengths: Borderless prints in most sizes. VERY accurate color reporduction. Bundled software has lots of layout choices. Relatively easy setup and software use. Two paper feed options for versatility.
Weakness: Takes too long to begin printing from the bundled printing software. Mine was missing the USB cable (I had a spare). Won't clean my bathroom for me. Unable to leap tall buildings in a single bound.
This printer is, so far, hands down the BEST photo printer I have ever used. The color reproduction is dead-on with what I see on my screen (probably partly due to meticulous color temperature adjustments of the screen on my part), and the print quality even in normal mode is nothing short of amazing. Even the WORST photo printing quality I could force it to do (plain paper in normal mode) was...
Strengths: Awesome quality prints. Cheap Inks. Canon brand.
Weakness: None.
This is an all around great printer that prints great text as well as pictures. It has all the bells and whistles, 6-ink technology and the inks are quite cheap compared to other brands. Its one of the best printers out there in its price range. Highly recommended.
Strengths: Flexability in printing various sizes and types of documents
Weakness: Craftsmanship. The plastic housing on the unit feels flimsy.
Quality of the printing is very good. I wish the size of the unit was a little smaller so that we could take it with us when traveling. I am also a little disappointed in the feel - structure of the unit. I doest feel like it is real solid. But, for the quality of the prints at this price and convenience, photo processors had better watch out.
Strengths: Great photos. Auto two sided printing. Closes up tight to keep out dust.
Weakness: No auto on (unless I haven't found it yet). Kind of slow start-up process.
So far I think this printer is great. I really wanted it for printing photos in which it does a great job. Check out the specs, the ink droplets are half the size of most others. I love the auto two sided printing to save paper when printing text. I don't know yet about the life of the ink tanks but it has to be way cheaper to use than the last three HP's that I had. The best thing is that I also...
Strengths: Very high quality prints
Weakness: does not pring borderless well on non-Canon papers
I would highly recommend this printer to photo professionsals seeking a sub$500 printer for very high res prints. With a 1 picoliter droplet volume it delivers great photos. Interchangeable individual cartridges are a great savings, too.
Strengths: Easy Setup, clean no jitter output
Weakness: Average Color Depth
I purchased this printer go go with My EOS 20D -- We'll let it be said that Canon build a heck of a good Camera, but I think that Epson give you a better output in the final photo for printing. All things being equal, if you use a really good paper, the Canon and Epson appear very close, but If you are going on the cheap, this output is color poor. I'm normally like Canon lasers - they are really...
Strengths: quality, looks, price
Weakness: none so far
I just set up my new PIXMA iP5000. I find that the photo printing quality is excelent. It prints boarderless pictures and text quickly and as if they came from the photo store. A great find for the money.
The Canon PIXMA iP5000 is a mid-range color inkjet printer, one step above the PIXMA iP4000, which was released at the same time. The iP5000 has essentially the same features as the iP4000, the main upgrade being its maximum color print resolution, at 9600 x 2400 dpi. It uses five different, individual ink cartridges and has sensors that detect when ink levels are low. It can print at a rate of...

Canon PIXMA iP5000 Inkjet Photo Printer
Strengths: Everything closes up tight to keep out dust. Holds 2 different paper sizes. Someone had made a comment that case seemed flimsy. I think the case is just fine unless you intend to stand on it.
Weakness: It's size. Could have made it slightly smaller.
Setup was straight forward and easy. We were printing within 15 minutes out of the box. First time prints were quite acceptable, slightly yellow and light. After balancing, prints were very, very good. Print times are not as advertised, 45 seconds for standard 4x6 and about a minute and a half for highest quality. We could barely see any difference in clarity from a print made from Standard...
