Great DVD Writer

Strengths: quiet, fast (rips and copies dvds in about half an hour), stylish

Weakness: none at the moment

This Sony DVD Writer is essentially a clone of the BenQ DW1670 with a Panasonic chipset. Since this is essentially a BenQ drive, you can be assured that the write quality is quite excellent (as long as the appropriate high quality media are used). As an external writer, this model is sturdy in both upright and horizontal positions. The only real negative is the pricing but then again Sony things...

Sony DRX820U

Strengths: Supported Formats Speed Reliability Brand Bundled User Friendly & rated best Nero Software Suite

Weakness: Bulky & Heavy Only USB2 support.

This drive is awesome, with so many formats supported at good speed. The recording is perfect and I have had no problems. It is a pleasure recording and viewing. I have tried writing it on different DVDs and all work just great. A product from Sony - top class as usual, a step ahead of the rest in the game. And with the price at which I got, it is like icing on the cake. A little bulky / heavy,...

Sony DRX820U

Strengths: Support CD/DVD formats

Weakness: none

Excellent DVD burner and it's worth every penny I spent!!! Some people say it looks bulky but it doesn't bother me that much. It doesn't creat loud noise while burning DVD and that's a really good for a DVD burner.

its a sony

Strengths: writes falwlessly; decent software, fast

Weakness: bulky, loud

Let me first say that this DVD writer does an excellent job at what it is designed to do...write DVDs. The unit is bulky, although I like the design of the writer and the fact you can use it on its side or standing up. I also like the mirror effect on the front of the writer. It is also quite loud. The fan is much louder than my laptop. You really get a feel for how loud the fan is when you turn...

drx-820u

Strengths: Very quiet and fast. 8x dvd+r dl

Weakness: A little expensive.

This burner is quieter than my other external burners which I appriciate. I have also been told that this drive is equivilant to a Benq Dw1670 which is a really high quality drive. This thing feels really sturdy and is also very attractive. I would buy another one if I could get it for cheaper. Overall this is a very good product from Sony.

DRX-820U External Dual Layer

Strengths: RAM

Weakness: No Lightscribe

Pretty nice for the price. Much easy to install. Comes with Nero. Sleek Look. But new model is out for the same price. It does burn and read RAM but no lightscribe.

An Excellent DVD Writer From Sony

Strengths: Support double-layer, DVD+/-RW, Fast & Quite Operation, Stylish & Reliable

Weakness: None

We had Sony CD writer and DVD writer (old version) previously. We are happy with Sony’s products: reliable, stylish, and good tech support. This DVD writer supports a lots format for DVDs and CDs. It operates very quietly and faster. The packed software are very useful and user friendly. You have less chance to burn a bad CD or DVD with this DVD writer. Sony’s products are usually a little...

a good one

Strengths: works fine, good-looking, just like other Sony product.

Weakness: kind of bulky, loud.

Only 2Mb/s, while Nero claim 8x. But writes steadily and DVD can be read by all my DVD drivera and players. Probably because I haven't defrag my HD for a while. Doubt if I can bring it around with my X41 though.
