Additional Specifications
Software Included: Roxio Easy Media Creator 9 Backup MyPC
Optical Drive Interface: IDE
Strengths: Does what it's supposed to do. Great Bundled software. Quiet operation
Weakness: None
Comes bundled with good software, and just works right out of the box. Easy to install. Fast burning speed. Cheap price. What more could you ask for? The drive is very quiet both when reading/writing a disk. The software that comes bundled with it is easy to install, and easy to use. A few clicks and you're burning a disk. All in all, this is a great drive, seems solidly built and well worth the...
Strengths: Low price, reliable, with software
Weakness: NA
If you use cd/cdr most of the time, this drive is a good choice. It seems to be a rebagged liteon drive. The reading/buring speed is fast. Very reliable. Easy to install. The buring software is also easy to install. Good drive with good price.
Strengths: Speed, Roxio Software
Weakness: No Cables included
Installation of Plextor was easy, in spite of mis-spellings in the Quick Installation guide. The Plexor worked as expected and was recognized by Windows XP. The Roxio software is a nice added bonus. I have used the Roxio software before and it makes burning CDs very easy. The main problem I have is with the shelf to but the CDs in. It is very flimsy and you have to take care when adding or...
Strengths: Low price and Easy install
Weakness: none
This driver is really not Plextor, just a LiteOn drive packaged in a Plextor box. The good thing is that it is almost free after rebate, although almost all PCs use DVD writer nowdays. Anyway, the drive is good if you don't need to read DVD.
Strengths: Easy install
Weakness: None
I used this to replace a broken drive. It installed easily and worked as expected. I've heard rave reviews about Plextor, so I'm happy to be using one now.
Strengths: price, speed
Weakness: doesn't read or write to dvd's
I bought this drive because the price was right. It reads CDs, CDRs, and CDRW disks with amazing speed. I was a little skeptical of this drive because it was basically free but it works better than expected. If your looking for a drive with fast speed recording, i would recommend this drive.
Strengths: It can read and write CDs. Its color is black. The drive is easy to install.
Weakness: It's expensive considering it's old technology. It's loud when it spins fast
This is a plain old CDWR, no DVD function. When you can get it FAR online, it's not bad as a run of the mill drive for an old PC. The Rixo software included is actually useful, better than the monster Nero which tends to dominate your PC's picture and video functions.
Strengths: low price
Weakness: almost out dated because most of these things play DVD and write DVD now
This had a 30.00 rebate making it almost free. So great deal if you don't need DVD options I recommend getting one if you can get it with the rebate.
Strengths: Fast, relatively quiet, complete and at a good price.
Weakness: Some people will rather have a SATA instead of an E-IDE interface.
-- Plextor promotes their PX-240A CD-RW drive as the "Ultimate 3-in-1 CD-RW Drive" and this might not be all hyperbole. -- With 52X CD-R, 32X CD-RW and 52X CD-ROM speeds, all while still being relatively quiet, the PX-240A will be fast enough for most people and applications. -- Add a 2 MB buffer along with the versatility of being able to handle audio, photo and video CDs and there is not much...
Barely above average
Strengths: speed, price
Weakness: Not SATA, can't read DVD, not really a Plextor
This is really a LiteOn drive packaged in a Plextor box. It does not even have Plextor logo on the front panel. Very average build quality. Not 100% CloneCD compatible, missing RAW-SAO. Speed is good, not very loud. Only worth the money after the rebate.
