I just can't believe how good this drive is. Pioneer as ever are up there at the top in quality and reliability. I've done many discs so far with this drive and so far - no coasters. Even cheap DVD-R media work so well with this drive. Get it on your "must have" list!
Strengths: Slot loading. Good quality, have had no problems.
Love the slot loading. Makes ripping CD after CD easier than you would think. Am about to build another computer and have already purchased one of these for it.
Strengths: fast, reliable (for now), supports +/- RW

I bought the OEM version (DVR-106) -- it works great. I have no problems using it, and i still didn't flash the new firmware. This is probably the best burner on the market today.

Pioneer DVR106 DVD±RW Writer
Strengths: Easy to use. Writes at a very excellent speed.

Bought the EOM version about a week ago. I copied 3 DVD's the day I got it. Very satisfied with the result. Takes less than 15 minutes to write in a 4.7 GB DVD. Would definitely recommend this burner to my friends.
