Strengths: Slot loading, +- formats, DL burn, comes packaged with nero 7.
Weakness: A little noisy, little product support from pioneer. Only burns 2x when not using nero.
Nice improvement over my existing dvd drive. fits into my hp zv5000 laptop no problems. The slot loading feature is very nice and it much nicer than a tray. I would like to see more support online, and maybe a firmware update but over all it is a nice product. I haven't tried the DL burning yet so I cannot comment about that.

I replaced a CD-Rom with this drive. It is a very compact Enlight 7839 case. I always liked slot drives, because there is one less mechanical component to break and those flimsy slim loaders just break to easily. That is exactly what happened to my old drive. Weakness: Faceplate is VERY cheaply put together, and once installed, isn't flush with factory drives.
The drive is another excellent one by pioneer. Previously I owned a DVD-ROM U305S (scsi slot load for PCs) which I loved, and this gives slot load capability to my laptop. This item DOES work with Nero 7. I am running Nero 7 Enhanced edition and it works brilliantly. So far I have burned discs using Nero Recode, Burning Rom and Nero Express, all without problems.

Weakness: Disc insertion is a wee bit loud, with a crunchy sound exactly like the Apple iBook's internal slot loading drive.
This drive provided great performance. The novelty of the slot loader, I can attest, does not wear off. The included Nero software was very decent, although you may already have Nero and I expect that works just fine. Installation with the Toshiba A105 is easy, with the proper screwdriver.
