I have used Liteon products for years not. They use a direct drive system. NO Belts to break. I have not tried to use their service yet. Have not had one break down.

a great alternative to just a dvd-rom drive, adds the ability to burn cd roms too. however, can spin fairly loudly, so if you are building a quiet system, look elsewhere

Lit on products are industry standard and professinal products. Useful in data writing and DVD view. No need for additional hardware becasue DVD and CD/RW is combo. Save money.
Lite-On makes the best CD Burners on the market, and this is another one of their great products. It burns very fast and DVD's play flawlessly. This is a great buy for the price or any price.

I installed the Lite-On 5232K Drive into an older Macintosh beige G3 Mini-Tower computer which was not originally set up for CD-RW or DVD. It was questionable whether this could be done or not. While this device works with the Windows standard software, it would have been nice to have an instruction manual. There is no simple copy program similar to what comes with HP Drives.

Built into new system, it loaded XP faster than Pentium D 840 could take it. It has been reliable for 3 months. It sounds like a sports car when it winds up.

Strengths: Fast! microphone jack & volume dial on front of drive. The color matches my machine perfectly. Its also a great price. Lastly, my drive is perfectly silent

This is an all around great drive. I am using it to play dvd's and as the source drive for my dvd copies. I have had no problems yet and it looks beautiful in my machine. I would recommend it because of its value and features.
