Strengths: I pretty much took the cd drive out of the box, hooked it up and I was ready to go. It's super fast also!
Weakness: The motor runs a little loud, but not too distracting.
I did my research to find the perfect cdrw-drive to complement my Macintosh G3 powerbook because my cd drive burned-out. So far, my LaCie drive has worked perfect and I highly recommend the purchase.

Great burner for those with firewire ports. I'm actually using this with my laptop and if you're looking for something that won't take up much desk space, this product may not suit your needs. Strengths: Very easy to install and use. Attractive, sturdy case that is not too large.
Weakness: Annoyingly loud.
I would purchase the LaCie CD-RW again, although I find it loud. It is very easy to use and comes with all software and cables necessary. I have an iMac with OS 9.2 and OS X installed and there have been no problems or conflicts.
Strengths: It's fast and seemingly durable with a nice metal case.
Weakness: It can be a little loud.
Works beautifully with OS X, just plug it in and burn. I haven't owned it that long, but so far it's been great. I use both iTunes and Toast Titanium 6 with it, they both have a great interface and work well with the LaCie drive.

Strengths: This is a very solidly built device and a fast burner. With OS X the software works nicely. It's a great package at this price. Remarkable, really.
Weakness: I might have to consider packing the drive along with my laptop at some point. The drive appears to be bomb-proof, but it's also heavy.
My last drive was a slow portable drive with a battery option. It worked well and was handy to travel with, but didn't hold up well at all.
