Strengths: Works well, floppy and hard drive cables included, drivers included on CD as well.
Weakness: Documentation is a little sparse, board is a little flimsy.
I bought this board as a replacement for the ECS L7VMM in an eMachines T1600. It's worked quite well - the board layout is a little different from the L7VMM and the back panel needed replacing (the proper one is included in the package), but otherwise the replacement is seamless. Although the package says it was designed for Windows XP, the board has worked with the Knoppix Live CD that I'm...
Strengths: Price, performance
Weakness: No firewire ports
This is my first attempt at changing a motherboard. I have an Athlon 3000+ and after the OEM board went out I had a friend of mine guide me through the process of picking out a new board. Price being my major concern this board fit the bill. The one thing that I failed to consider was that I have a front panel with multiple card reader, USB and Firewire inputs. That's the one thing this board is...
Strengths: very few jumpers, easy to work with, good performance
Weakness: no s-video out
for the money, it works fine. and for my web surfing, office application purpose, it's actually pretty fast coupled with an Athlon CPU. It also has four USB ports, plus two for front USB connection. It would be even nicer if it could provide a S-video out. a good buy.
Strengths: Stable, Quiet, Built-in video
Weakness: 2 ram slots, 3 PCI
After the board that I had for AMD XP 2500+ died, I got this board for the replacement and it turned out that it is better than expected. It's been stable for one months now (running in 24/7). No fan on the board, so it is quiet during operation. Built-in video is ok for business purpose. You can set video mem size from 16MB. The only downside is that there are only 2 ram slots. The previous one...
Strengths: one of the few socket A/462 mobo's still available new. integrated video and lan.
Weakness: poor documentation, mobo flexes too much, no firewire, only 2 fan headers. i cant get my pc to S3 sleep no matter what i've tried to do.
good luck trying to find a decent socket A motherboard that is brand new. there are a few out there by PCChips that have a really high failure/DOA rate. foxconn is a reputable maker. it's a no frills mobo that is good if you have any spare parts around. i wouldn't buy this for a completely new build as your money would be better spent elsewhere.
Strengths: Substituted for my burned out FIC AM37 board perfectly. Cable connections, processor, and components transferred fine.
Weakness: Took a few hours to get over speed bumps.
I bought this as a substitute for the FIC AM37 board that burned out in my Compaq Presario. I was able to install the board physically with no problems. It fit into the case, the front USB connections and power cables fit perfectly, processor and memory went in fine. The only problem I had was that the hard drive and CD drive wouldn't even power up. After fiddling around with things for a couple...
Strengths: Cheap. mATX size for HTPC. On-board VGA. Responsive tech support from Foxconn.
Weakness: QC not so good.
Bought this board because of its price and availability. As expected, features are pretty basic but it includes an on-board VGA which can be handy for building a cheap low-end PC for web browsing or emailing. Read a lot of reviews complaining that board comes DOA. My first board was also DOA and I could only get it to boot once every 10 tries or so. Foxconn tech support was very helpful and...
Economic choice
Strengths: low price, compact, decent functions
Weakness: less room for extention and upgrade
Bought this Foxconn K7S741GXMG-6L motherboard to upgrade my Duron 750 system to Athlon XP 3000+. Nothing fancy but just enough for daily usage such as internet surfing, emails, MS office operations, DVD playing and so on. It works very well so far. If the computer is just to be used for the operations listed above, why waste money on those motherboards that have fancy functions? Foxconn...
