Strengths: intergrated video card, fast FBS speed, price
Weakness: less slots
This is a micro ATX motherboard. This price is 30% cheaper than P5LD2. It may not good for professional users who need many slots. But it has everything i need to everyday use. I have used it for 2 month and never met a single problem.
Strengths: Price, reliability, user documentation, future expandability, onboard graphics
Weakness: none
This is a fantastic MB at a great price. Asus has great documentation to make installation a snap. It has onboard graphics so you don't have to buy a graphics card on day one. It supports all 775 P4 chips so you can go with a dirt cheap 500 series all the way up to one of the 800 series dual cores.
Strengths: Got everything that you need for a compact system
Weakness: Common problem with all 945 chipset, cannot use all of 4GB memory address.
It fits the bill for a all in one micro atx motherboard to go into a really small case. Did have a problem with a corrupt bios at first, the bios recover procedure did not go smoothly, it did take a couple of tries to restore the bios, but in the end it did work. The only drawback, which is common to the 945 chipset is that it cannot address all 4Gb of memory. The OS can only see around 3.2GB....
Strengths: Nothing so far. Maybe it's abit cheaper than Intel's 945G armies, but everything cheap for a reason and normally that's for not very pleasant reason(s).
Weakness: So, if you do care performance and stability and plan to torture the MB for the long run or even hosting ur own alternative servers, P5LD2-VM is a definite NO-GO. Get Intel 945G series instead.
First of, the memory performance is very disappointing. I have at least 5 945G MBs, 2 Intel 945GCZ(BTX form factor), 1 945GTP and 2 p5ld2-VM. p5ld2-vm's memory performance (i.e: ubench) is significantly slower than its intel counterparts, by 40-50%. 2nd, notice the capacitors on the MBs are incompetent or noticeably smaller... smaller meaning cheaper, that's why it's 20-30 bucks cheap than other...
The P5LD2 is an entry-level Asus motherboard for Socket 775. Although Intel's 945P chipset is used, the feature set of the Asus board clearly exceeds the chipset's offerings. Asus is the only company to offer three x1 PCIe slots as well as three 32 bit PCI slots - all the competitors feature a maximum of five slots. Once again the floppy connector was placed at the edge of the motherboard, making...

Nice design
Strengths: Mini-ATX board so space is limited. You are not going to get multi PCI slots with this board and upgrading is only for the CPU and Video. No-Raid means no stripping to take advantage og the 3.0Gb SAT
Weakness: The P5LD2-VM is quite possibly the best motherboard for the money with out a doubt. For a little over a $100 you get a massive amount of features and compatiblility not even seen on some of the highes
You have to decide what it is your building here. If your goal is a streamline affordable system this MoBo is the way to go. But folks lets not jump off the deep-end here!!!For just over 100 bucks you are getting high end technology. The latest chipset the lastest socket with the highest FSB. Buy all the high-end stuff to go with and when you run out of space buy a bigger MoBo, but that's all you...
