Great mobo except one thing

Strengths: Good feature set for a great price. Manual is actually useful.

Weakness: The DX10 generation of cards collide with the SATA cables plugged into the motherboard.

I had to remove SATA one cable (which meant one drive missing from the RAID 10 array) to get it in the slot. Would have had to remove two except I have a low profile cable in the second port already, but the SATA ports are too close together to get a second low profile cable of the same type in the port I had to remove the cable from. Discovered there is a low profile cable that goes the other...

An excellent entry/middle level board

Strengths: AM2, Integrated Video, 4 SATA ports with RAID, 2 IDE ports, 1394a (Firewire 400), PCIe, Smart handling of rear/front audio connectors

Weakness: Few expansion slots, Video performance

We've been using these in new PC builds for our office for about 6 months now and they are excellent at that task. We marry these up with dual-core X2 CPUs and 2GB of RAM for systems that will probably last 8-10 years. Integrated video means one less component to purchase (usually a fanless PCIe GeForce 6200 LE) but we can still use the PCIe x16 slot to drop in a stronger video card if needed. It...

AWESOME MOBO FOR THE PRICE!

Strengths: Integrated Graphics and still upgrade with a PCI-e graphics card. Supports 8 USB ports, IEEE 1394, integrated Sound-MAX, supports 8GB DDR2 memory, Asus EZ flash, SDTV & HDTV.

Weakness: Not good for serious gamers, NO SLI, not good for overclocking.

I was looking mid range price MOBO so I can use for my programs such as Adobe Photoshop CS2, Illustrator CS, Painter IX, Dreamweaver and Flash MX. So far they work awesome on this MOBO & AMD64 x2 processor.

Great mobo for budget-midgrade build

Strengths: Am2, DDR2, supports sempron, onboard video with HDTV

Weakness: 0303 bios, bad for overclocking

I bought this for a server that I will eventually upgrade to dual core, but it runs a 3000 sempron and it is FAST. I can't overclock more tha 5% which dissapointed me, but then again, OCing was not a priority. Make sure you have some good ram. I put in a dual channel Corsair XMS2 kit and it picked it up right away. The onboard video is great because I don't need video yet, and if I want, the...

Only Use low voltage memory

Strengths: Has everything - almost.

Weakness: Highest memory voltage setting is 1.9 volts and that makes it not compatible with about 1/2 the ram on the market that user 2.0+ volts.

I made the mistake of buying quality ram for this board. Generally the slower cheaper ram runs at 1.8 and 1.9 volts and should work. Good ram runs at 2.0+ volts and doesn't work. I'm an Asus fan and really disapointed with this board. The 1.9 volt limit on Asus boards makes me want to switch brands. If you buy this board MAKE SURE that your ram is 1.9 volts or less.

Great integrated solution for HTPC

Strengths: Socket AM2, integrated graphics with HDTV, integrated Sound-MAX, more than enough USB and SATA ports.

Weakness: A bit picky with RAM, not for overclockers

I bought this board to build HTPC. Since low-power, low-noise combination is the important part here, this is a perfect solution. I've also used a 65W Athlon64 3800+ CPU and 1GB A-DATA 1.8V DDR2-800 RAM. Low-voltage RAM is important because this board is kind of picky. The integrated graphics card provides enough juice to do all video decoding I need. While you can't do any serious gaming on this...

Great Value priced MB

Strengths: This board has it all, built in video, sound, networking, socket AM2 and support for DDR2. Manual is very easy to follow.

Weakness: Response from support can be spotty.

I was skeptical of the built in video on this MB, but it is a decent performer, for most taks (I would not use the built in video for gaming). You always haev the option of upgrading video, as it has a PCI-e slot.

Severe Bios Issues - Not Ready Yet

Strengths: If it worked it would be everything you'd want. It's all on the motherboard and can take up to 8 gigs of ram.

Weakness: Current bios 0303 broken. Very picky on memory and Linux won't run.

This board has bios problems. The current bios is 0303 and I don't recommend buying this board until a newer bios is available. It will not run the 2.8.18rc4 Linux kernek and it is not compatible with

great mobo!

Strengths: Everything you could want is on board: gigabit ethernet, tons of USB ports, firewire, DDR2, 4 SATA 300 ports, nice built in graphics, and it's the latest socket AM2.

Weakness: none

I ordered this mobo, an Athlon 64 3500+, and 2GB of mwave DDR2-533 memory and added in the extra $9 for mwave to do the assembly and testing. It was well worth it because I knew the likelihood of DOA or compatability problems was minimal. I'm extremely happy with this mobo so far and am looking foward to tricking it out with some more goodies soon.

Great if it worked.

Strengths: Everything is on board, audio, video and would make a great HTPC.

Weakness: As others have said the current BIOS 0303 does not work with the memory stick I am using: Kingston KVr667D2N5/1G which is on the ASUS qualified vendors list.

I specifically checked the list of supported memory modules and as the Kingston was on the list and price was good, I went for it when I ordered the MB. But the board won't post and freezes. I can't get into BIOS setup. Some have posted in other places that the default AUTO voltage setting is too low and should be manually adjusted higher to 1.9 - 2.0 Volts. I am hoping to get this working soon,...

Asus M2NPV-VM

The M2NPV-VM is an AM2 MATX motherboard released early in the sockets lifetime and phased out towards 2008. One of the only MATX boards at the time that featured both a DSUB and DVI port, the onboard Nvidia 6150 allowed for acceptable performance and dual monitor support on a system that uses very little power. The M2NPV-VM featured very little overclocking support, and very stringent memory...
