Asus A7N8X Motherboard

Strengths: Everything imagineable

Weakness: Asus is still using that turn brown color, not nice for us case modders out there

Well not to mention that this board comes with all of the bells and whistles, it really set the standard when it came to nForce 2 boards. This board is beautiful in everything except color. No problems, and even has to RMA a board becuase of a P/S problem, Asus was very nice and helpful in doing that. A+

Asus A7N8X Motherboard

Strengths: Power, stability, online comunity support, overclocking capability, features

Weakness: Very particular about RAM, must use top quality ONLY!

Bios tends to "die" when settings are changed frequently. Recommend use of a Ioss BIOS Saviour, "just in case". A little pricey but well worth it with all the features. 2 NICs installed, Nvidia for Max speed and lowest CPU resources needed. and 3Com for portabilty with auto switching capability eliminating need for special switching cables. The absolute best for AMD XP up to 3200 Be sure to ask...

Asus A7N8X Motherboard

Strengths: Has every option that any computer freek would want in a computer.

Weakness: nForce2 chipset not supported by all vendors.

If you need to update firmware of your CDRW, low level format a hard drive or any other option like that, the software most likely will not work with the nForce2 chipset. Examples: Maxtor hard drive low level format program offered on site does not work. Liteon firmware update put my CDRW out of commision. Both problems were repaired by putting the equipment into another system to perform the...

Asus A7N8X Motherboard

Strengths: Ability to tweak memory settings

Weakness: Not enough fan headers

This board is a good board to crankup because it lets you adjust the FSB plus the memory latency settings. Along with the ability to raise or lower the multiplyer, you have a great overclockers board.I have several duel channel boards and this 1 out of them all is my choice to use for getting the maximum there is to get. I am running a 2800+ Barton cranked up to a 2140.27 Mhz with a 171.22 Mhz...

Asus A7N8X Motherboard

Strengths: alot

Weakness: some

First Time builder and a novice. Had some frustration but it has all worked out to be a great choice. I highly recommend this board. Read the reviews I got some great advice from the reviews. Even if you have some trouble, and in electronic parts there is gonna be trouble I don't care who makes it, once you get it up and running you won't be disappointed.

Asus A7N8X Motherboard

Strengths: Includes everything AND the kitchen sink.

Weakness: Linux support not there yet.

Wow. This board has everything on it. It was my first Mobo install and went fairly smoothly, except I still cannot figure out how to properly hook up the HDD LED (and some of the other little wires). The manual could use a larger blow-up picture of that part. I also cannot figure out how to make the boot process stop looking for SATA drives, because I don't have any, but it spends several...

Asus A7N8X Motherboard

Strengths: QUITE fast, very stable, feature filled, perfect for entuthiast, and very easy to overclock and tweak. Great Layout.

Weakness: None.

This board is exactly what AMD enthusiasts needed. It holds any existing options to tweak to the limit any part of your hardware. The sole fact that you can lock AGP and PCI speeds help to get the most out of your ad-in cards, and most obviously and important, your CPU and memory. The layout is magnificent and quite well thought, starting by the location of the ATX connector, followed by the...

Asus A7N8X Motherboard

Strengths: Overclocking flexability:Athlon I am using Athlon 2000+ with an as supplied 12.5 multiplier to give 1667 Ghz, using the A7N8X Deluxe I was able to raise the multiplier to 22.5 to achieve 2.97 Ghz

Weakness: Raid configuration is poorly documented but once achieved is impressive

Dispite the extreme overclocking system is extremely stable. Present configuration includes: 4 Maxtor 120G 7200 2 IDE,2 SATA Raid striped 1 Pioneer A05 DVD R/RW 1 GENERIC DVD 2 ETHERNET PORTS NVIDIA GE FORCE 420 64 MB W/TV OUT SAMSUNG SYNCMASTER 172N

Asus A7N8X Motherboard

Strengths: This MB has most features you want except a display subsystem. Since mostly we wnat to choose that seperately this is not an issue.

Weakness: If you want to run Linux or a Unix, support for the MB features is limited an may require OS work to install.

I purchased this MB for a system that is to be a Linux server machine for 18 months, then a windows box. It is equiped with AMD 2500+ and PC-2700 DDR memory. Works great, i had no problems. The system is very fast. I have installed both XP and RedHat 7.3. Windows worked well with little effort. Linux drivers for the one lan interface, USB, and a few other bits worked easily. Audio, the other LAN,...

Asus A7N8X Motherboard

Strengths: Dual DDR400 support Easy BIOS setup Serial ATA Dual LAN 5.1 Audio Fire Wire USB 2.0 and 1.1 CPU overheat protection 333FSB support Nice IDE floppy layout

Weakness: Serial ATA connecter location Joystick header Lack of an optical output cable

Well the performance I gained in the benchmarks wasn't at all what I experienced in my gaming time with this motherboard. I found this system to boot faster and run just about every program I used faster. I was upset that the system wouldn't overclock as high but I will be installing an Athlon 1800+ Thoroughbred CPU soon with an A core. I am hoping to get better results with that chip and that's...
