Asus A7M266, AMD Athlon, Socket A, ATX, 2GB DDRRAM,...

Strengths: Very Reliable, Works well with ATI Radeons and GeForce 4 TI 4200. After updating bios, Have put 2000+ CPU. Screamin machine.

Weakness: Internal Motherboard chipset fan goes bad. Have two motherboards and the fan has gone bad with high noise vibration and then stops.

This motherboard is one of the most versatile and reliable ones yet. the 761 chipset makes allows this board to play games fluidly with no choppiness or intemittent pauses. Only which they would have designed in power up on keyboard or mouse, then it would be perfect.

Asus A7M266, AMD Athlon, Socket A, ATX, 2GB DDRRAM,...

Strengths: Fairly good manuals,

Weakness: First one didn't even power up. Customer Service difficult to work with. Could never load operating system.

I'm an AMD fan, so naturally I wanted to build a system around an AMD based mobo. This board was nothing but trouble. The first board would not even power up. Tech support instantly assumes you are a moron, and acts annoyed, even when you have already tried all of their trouble shooting tips before calling. Had to ship the board to them at my expense. New replacement sent. Could not install...

Asus A7M266, AMD Athlon, Socket A, ATX, 2GB DDRRAM,...

Strengths: Name brand

Weakness: Lack of info in the manuals

I first received the board and installed it with: 256mb micron DDR 2 x 15gb hard drives 32mb NVDIA RIVA 32x12x48 CDR 16X Toshiba DVD 1Ghz Duron processor I attempted to load win XP home and could not suceed. So I attempted to change the CPU settings in the BIOS @ 1.33mhz, upon rebooting, I could not get any type of screen. I tried everything I can think of with no results. I couldnt even get any...

Asus A7M266, AMD Athlon, Socket A, ATX, 2GB DDRRAM,...

Strengths: AMD761 chipset

Weakness: Loud fans

This is the best board ASUS or AMD has ever made. If all AMD motherboards were this good, Intel would have a problem. Lucky for Intel they aren't. People claiming to have had this motherboard a year must be talking about the A7V, which is as bad as these people claim. V stands for VIA. Run away run away fast! I have built 4 systems with this MB with not a single problem on any of them. My primary...

Asus A7M266, AMD Athlon, Socket A, ATX, 2GB DDRRAM,...

Strengths: easy setup, smart plug and play, very upgradable.

Weakness: lack of dimms

A great motherboard, well worth my time and money, I find that the price is somthing that I was willing to pay, and over all it has been the best motherboard I have come to thusfar.

Asus A7M266, AMD Athlon, Socket A, ATX, 2GB DDRRAM,...

Strengths: Easy install for a novice like me.

Weakness: My own lack of MB hardware knowledge...:)

This is my first "put together" MB with Win98SE and I can share that it was an easy install. I did have problems with my mouse and keyboard freezing up and I found I had placed the reset button connection on the wrong pins. I also notice that my Creative 5.1 sound card did not appear to be seated as firmly in one slot as it did in another...but that could be my own fault. Northbridge/Southbridge?...

Asus A7M266, AMD Athlon, Socket A, ATX, 2GB DDRRAM,...

Weakness: Customer Support

Actually, I own an Asus A7A266 motherboard. While I can say that the motherboard is satisfactory, I would say that their customer support is the poorest I have ever encountered. This is unlike when I contacted a company like AMD (who were quite knowledgable and helpful). These guys acted like I was bothering them, and that I had some nerve to ask them questions about their board (they were...

Asus A7M266, AMD Athlon, Socket A, ATX, 2GB DDRRAM,...

Strengths: Very stable, great performance

Weakness: Doesn't work properly with some Netgear NIC cards

Good solid performer, installed easily. Only problem was occasional failure to boot (had to hit reset key to make PC boot). An Email to Asus support got a quick answer which proved to be correct (Seems Netgear FA311 NIC card holds a signal down which can prevent booting - switched to a 3Com card and no more problem)

Asus A7M266, AMD Athlon, Socket A, ATX, 2GB DDRRAM,...

Strengths: pricing, quality, easy of installation

Weakness: difficult to read M/B when installing various plugs, only 2 slots for DDR RAM.

This is a solid, well designed M/B. Installation went smoothly and don't have any problems with OS (W2K or apps although I'm going to try installing multiple OS'es so we will see how that works). Went with AMD T-bird 1.2 chip, 512mb PC2100 DDR, Maxtor 40gb 7200 HD, GeForce2 NVIDIA card, SB Live! 5.1 card, and Linksys LAN card. CPU fan installed along with 2 case fans. Still runs warm but that's...

Asus A7M266, AMD Athlon, Socket A, ATX, 2GB DDRRAM,...

Strengths: stability, upgrade options

Weakness: price

this is an excelent mother board, its very stable, well organized, with exellent upgrade options, grate support by the company, highly recommended by amd, something that its very usefull is that the cpu socket its protected by plastic on the borders," be ware not to scratch the motherboard surface"
