Strengths: Very nice layout. Stable operation.
Weakness: USB keyboard power-on does not work correctly. BIOS updates happen very infrequently. Some USB problems. Loud fan on north bridge.
I have been using this motherboard for 5 months. It's quite stable, it runs 200Mhz FSB very easily. I replaced its north bridge fan with a zalman to make it quiter. The USB power on does not work with Logitech keyboard. I sent an email to their support about this but they never replied back. I'm also having some USB2.0 problems, it works at USB 1.1 speeds although I have XP SP2. I'm not sure this...
Strengths: easy to work with. cables and parts are easy to plug in.
Weakness: none found so far.
The only problem that I found is memory error causing blue screen. This was corrected by installing the memory correctly. From DIMM 3 to DIMM 1 not from 1 to 3.
Strengths: Many features, uGuru overclocking, flexible BIOS, 5 PCI slots, smart problem detection, POST indicator.
Weakness: Lacks Vocal POST, few accessories
Abit AN7 is one of the best Athlon XP motherboards you can buy right now. Although ASUS a7n8x has more features, Abit is much more reliable and is easier to overclock. It also has to be noted that Abit has a great customer service.
Strengths: Great features, has a plug for everything, nice board layout, excellent documentation and software
Weakness: Northbridge fan can be buggy
Currently running an AMD XP 2500+ with dual-DDR Kingston PC2700 equalling 1 gig. Eventually I plan on updgrading to serial HD's. The only problem I had was with the Northbridge fan on the heatsink. I would invest in buying a new fanless HS and just mounting it to the NB (unless you're an overclocker). Other than that, this board is rock solid. My pc runs 24 hrs a day and I can go 2-3 weeks easily...
Strengths: Very nice layout of IDE ports.
Weakness: None I've found yet.
I like this board a lot. I had the Abit KR7A before and after moving to this board, I really like it as well. I like the IDE ports layout because it helps in hiding the cables especially if you have a window case. The new addition of the Abit uGuru is a nice feature as well for tweaking.
Strengths: oc
Weakness: memory
Great motherboard. Works well and uGURU works as 2nd processor for hardware monitoring. Enough PCI slots Ieee ports and every thing that you need without gigabit lan, And professional soundcard from nvidia support for optical audio in out. only the alternative is nothing. STABLE really STABLE
Strengths: Lots of bells and whistles.
Weakness: Unreliable
I've had nothing but trouble, and no response from ABIT support. Backing up to DVD-RW results in occasional corrupt data, and frequent unreadable or unmountable DVD's. At first I thought it was a DVD writer problem. That has been replaced. I still have problems. Then I noticed that disk to disk copies result in corrupted data. The Maxtor SATA disks check OK with the Maxtors Powermax utility....
Strengths: Great board..easy to use/install...
Weakness: Northbridge fan is a POS ;)
No problems with the board (in 6 months or so) until about 3 days ago when my northbridge fan died.. (as stated in many other reviews/review sites)... other than that, awesome board... If you plan on buying one, I'd suggest buying a replacement fan for your Northbridge...cuz the Abit one has to be one of the most useless peripherals in my computer. ;)
Strengths: Stable, Reliable, many great features and settings in the BIOS, POST indicator, nice board layout, onboard sound, 10/100 network controller, Parallel and serial ATA connectors, USB and Firewire
Weakness: None Really. I did find that I couldn't install my tv card into one of the PCI slot because there was a capacitor in the way, but that was easy to fix, just move it to one of the other PCI slots.
I've had this motherboard for about 3 months, and I've been very happy with it. I've been purchasing Abit motherboards back since my first Pentium II motherboard. I've always found Abit boards to be good. Sure I've had some minors problems, but they tend to be very reliable boards and the Abit RMA service is good and easy to use if you do have problems under warranty. Out of all the different...

ABIT Desktop Motherboard - nVIDIA nForce2 Ultra 400...
Strengths: Overclocking down up, POST LED display, control component trough software
Weakness: Not supporting AMD64, Tricky memory UPGRADE, Bad northbridge cooling, no overclocking guide
I bought this motherboard intending to taste the flavor of all technologies available on market at that time (April2004 ), so that I don't feel inferior when I visit any of my friends for the next 2 years! This mobo (Motherboard) gave me exactly what I expected and more!! The best way to explain uGuru is to think of it as a system with 3 components; 1. uGuru software bundle; a. uGuru OC...
