Additional Specifications
Design: Right-handed Only
Green Compliance: Yes
Strengths: On the fly DPI switching, two thumb buttons, accurate, relatively inexpensive, adjustable weight, wired
Weakness: cheesy gamer look, rough textured grip, scroll wheel isn't easily as clickable as some other mic, mice buttons feel slightly strange, wired
The G5 is about as good as you're going to get for a wired mouse and as high as DPI as you'll ever want. Mice DPI wars have gone on for years now, even since the trackball days as DPI physically meant how sensitive the mouse rollers were and was more tied to the actual max resolution of the mouse. When Mice went optical (remember the Intellimouse Explorer?) it introduced a new element, the image...
Strengths: Slick looking, Tilt on wheel, feels great in hand
Weakness: I had problems with the scroll wheel stopped working. And when I play games I can't get the 5th mouse botton to work.
I had so much trouble with this mouse that I went back to my Logitech MX518 that I had replaced with this mouse. I have had that mouse for more then 3 year maybe 4 now and have had zero problems with it.
Strengths: Adjustable weight system, ultra-smooth movement when used with a gaming mousepad!
Weakness: Side-scroll (tilt-wheel) is too easy to accidentally trigger when trying to just click the wheel down in the middle position.
This is by far the best mouse I have ever owned. It looks pretty intense sitting on my desk, but it's totally worth it because it works so incredibly well. The weight system is fantastic in when used on a gaming mousepad I don't feel anything when I move the mouse, it just glides like it's on air! I've had this mouse for over a year now and can say there's not much I can fault it with. The...
Strengths: +Texture and Feel + Plenty of buttons + Smooth Movement on Mousepad.
Weakness: - Right handed oriented
Having been using a Logitech MX300 for little over 6-7 years, I believed it was time for a replacement. The first thing one may notice is the texture and feel of the mouse when one first lays their hand of it. It's quite rough, which I believe is a positive, as it "feels" snug and secure in your hand compared to slippery plastic in other mice. The weight cartridge system is quite unique, but they...
Strengths: Two side buttons, button to change sensitivity, adjustable weight
Weakness: Middle mouse button does not click that good
This is a great mouse to play games with. The two buttons on the side make it easy to assign actions so you do not have to reach for the keyboard. I like the adjustable sensitivity button. I can lower the sensitivity when using a sniper rifle or turn it up when I am using a regular gun. The weight cartridge is a nice feature since it makes the mouse more comfortable to use. Another thing that I...
Strengths: Refined design from the MX500, 2 thumb buttons, custom weights are a plus, better "feet" for increased gliding, on-the-fly DPI adjustment
Weakness: Middle mouse button not quite as good as in the past (tilt wheel gets in the way of pushing the wheel down), older models had a better paint-job
Coming from an MX500 in 2003, I was in need of an update to my aging mouse (which still functions great today). I've loved the shape and two-thumb button design since then, and the G5 was the logical choice for me. New upgrades over the years refine the initial design and provide additional functionality to an already great product. For a similar price to the MX500 years ago, they really pack in...
Strengths: Responsive; Ajustable weight
Weakness: None
Very good gaming mouse. I used it to play Call of Duty 4 online. I gained much better scores using this mouse. This is version 2 so it has two thumb buttons which makes it more control over the game. The weight cartridge can be adjusted according to your preferences in different games. Logitech's good quality as always. The only thing bothers me is that the cord is kind of stiff and can affect...
Strengths: precise, comfort
Weakness: The accompanyed SetPoint software is not good
The G5 laser gaming mouse from Logitech is one the best mice I have ever used. It's simply comfortable to hold it in use. I can also use the weight adapter to adjust the weight that I like. I don't use the set point software. You can change the DPI by the buttons in the mouse. Laser mouse has very good prcision, not like the ordinary optical mouse, you cannot see the red lights coming out the...
Strengths: Two Thumb Buttons, Nice "grip feel," can switch modes on the fly with different "game modes," and a awesome weight system that rivals all others.
Weakness: Having a cord?... But way worth saving money on batteries.
Found and bought this beauty at a great price after rebates. It's lived up to my expectations. I only ordered it after hearing the buzz online, and since I needed a new mouse (the center roll-ball mouse I've had like 8 years going) I couldn't pass it up. Works great, can change the weight to specifically what you'd like to personally use with it, and with all the different combos/speeds you can...
THE GOOD: Easy to use, on-the-fly sensitivity changer; customizable weighting system; updated design includes two thumb-side buttons; new higher sensitivity laser sensor; fully cooked Vista support. THE BAD: Thin thumb buttons might be tough to use for those with large hands; electric-blue styling reminds us of a SpikeTV sports drink commercial (for some this might be a "good"). THE BOTTOM LINE:...

Meet the cream of the crop: from Logitech, the G5 and G9 mice. Microsoft is represented by the Sidewinder and Habu mice, while Razer rounds out the group with the Lachesis gaming mouse.

The best mouse I have ever user.
Strengths: Laser precision; excellent grip; tilt wheel; weight tuning; on-the-fly sensitivity switching up to 2000DPI; DPI indicator; slick pads; application profiling.
Weakness: hard to middle click; right-handed only. Logitech G9 is there and prices are falling.
I bought Logitech g5 to replace the Creative Fatality 1010 mouse after it broke in less than an year use. Much solid and stable, but I needed some time to adjust to it.
