Strengths: Ultra portable, nice screen, Vista upgradeable, excellent built quality
Weakness: Too much junk programs comes pre-installed on the machine that it slows down system, expensive, small keyboard
I just got this Sony ultra portable laptop. I like the fact that I could take it anywhere with me and be online either via Wifi or the cingular subscription. It is powerful enough I think that it could run the Vista with the memory and CPU but you have to uninstall a lot of the junk programs that come pre-installed on the machine. It really slows down Windows XP. Gorgeous screen. Still have to...
Strengths: Does it all. Easy hook up, wireless great, great intuitive controls. Can use as tablet and nice security fingerprint scan.
Weakness: A little hard to see in normal size. VERY poor battery life. More powered battery costs $300+, ridiculous. Battery yields about 90-100 minutes.
I was very happy with the purchase. Price with rebate and my review just about $1600. I can see this useful for checking and sending emails. The keyboard is small but allows my fat fingers to get pretty good results. Overall I would give it a 9 but due to battery life, I have to scold Sony for the rip off battery upgrade price. Final tally 7.5, but there is nothing out there much cooler then this...
Strengths: Very small notebook PC, A full function PC
Weakness: A little expensive, Low battery sustaining
Originally, I have had a pocket PC phone but I feel it is not enough. Because the pocket PC can not install all of the software for common PC, I decide to purchase this small notebook. This notebook PC is small enough to put in my pocket. So I can easily bring it between my office and my home. I have two old keyboards, mouse and monitors. I put one set in my home and the other in my office. They...
Strengths: Small; full function PC; has wireless for wifi, bluetooth, or surfing the net using SIM chip which can be unlocked
Weakness: battery life= only 2 hrs; Too much glare; cannot operate wifi(wlan) and cellphone towers(wwan) the same time; SIM chip removal requires very small screw driver to unscrew the cover first
This notebook is not a pda, nor a phone. It is a fully featured and functional computer. Whatever a typical laptop has, this has it. Looking at the design and shape, it's like T-Mobile's sidekick on steroids. This product is made in Japan. This product has no manual and no recovery discs. Everything is basically in the pc itself. The accessories included are the docking device, plastic stand,...
Strengths: Ultracompact, light, form factor, sharp screen, fingerprint scanner, QWERTY keyboard, included accessories, coolness, free Vista upgrade
Weakness: Keyboard, preinstalled software, expensive, memory stick, constant squinting, Windows
As a lover of ultracompact computers and tablets, I'm really happy that Sony finally released its UX in the USA. Before, it had been necessary to import computers from Japan to fill this need, and that meant lack of support and extremely high prices. After getting a number of stacked discounts, I decided to splurge at a Sony Style store, and I'm happy I did. The UX is a very cool PC and is a...
Strengths: Ultramobile. Good specs. Windows Vista Premium Ready.
Weakness: Pricey.
Sony's UX280P is one of the best origami PCs. UX180P's most serious problem was 512MB RAM which is not upgradable. UX280P has 1GB and it's capable of running Windows Vista. Xingular wireless is almost useless. I'd like to have CF slot instead, which is the case with its Japanese version. As many other mentioned, its keyboard is small and terrible for fast typing.
Strengths: Small Size,easy to carry
Weakness: price high
This Pocket size PC is small enough to be carried on your pocket,Its a real "Pocket PC",But the performance is good,1.2GHZ fast enough to process movie signal.1G RAM,40G Hard drive are alse big for this small size PC. Battery can be used for 4 to 5 hours.it's wireless capability makes you possible to use the data while you are driving.
Strengths: Touch screen, amazing clarity, light, keyboard, DOCK, bluetooth
Weakness: No CD driver, battery cost
Just got this a few days ago and I have to admit that it's pretty cool. I am pretty amazed that they were able to fit a full PC with all of these extras in such a tiny package (one pound). It has 2 cameras (.3 and 1.3 MP) a fingerprint scanner to sign into websites, a touch screen, bluetooth, wi-fi, wlan, integrated keyboard, and an included port replicator (dock with outputs) After reading a lot...
Strengths: Compact Size, Touchscreen, Full Version of Windows XP, Wifi, Bluetooth and Cingular Edge/G3 Data Network
Weakness: Small Keyboard, no Windows Tablet PC Interface for Tap and Type, Expensive
I needed a computer to use in the field to access web services through Internet Explorer and Outlook. I looked at web enabled phones, but they processed information very slowly and didn't always display web pages as originally designed. I choose the Sony UX280 because of the Touch Screen Feature. When working in the field, I am not always able to use a keyboard. I decided against purchasing a...

Coolness 5 / Usability 1
Strengths: None
Weakness: Everything
I really wanted to like this product but I can't. It is a cool, all in one device with little practical use. It does everything but it does everything poorly. It’s not a PDA with a useful OS like Windows Mobile. It’s not a phone. It’s not a real computer unless you add additional storage, keyboard, mouse, and a display. This device might work for the traveling person that pops in to do some...
