You don't have to hide this laptop, it is a beauty. The keyboard feels full size, the hard drive already comes partitioned but I do not knwo why they used the fat file system. the cooling fas is located in teh bottom and if you place the unit on your lap it starts to burn. The battery life is about 2 hours - a lot less if you watch a movie.
Strengths: 64 bits processor, faster, DVD±RW/CD-RW, good screen and size
Weakness: it needs notebook cooler or fan, speakers and card reader.
Good performance, AMD Turion 64 ML-30 processor. However, the processor does run so hot and loud. I could not support it in my legs for much time. Then, I bought a notebook cooler. Now, it works great. It has a very good screen (15.4" WXGA CrystalBrite TFT LCD). It gives a crisp and clear picture no matter what brightness is selected. In addition, I needed to buy speakers and card reader because...
Strengths: Fast! Wicked fast! DVD+-RW/DL, 100GB HD, and 1GB DDR!
Weakness: Screen seems a bit dark (but I guess that is how they are making the laptops now), and it is reflective too... Resolution is limited to 1280 x 1024 unless you plug in an external monitor.
Amazing laptop! Differences between one listed and mine is 1GB DDR, 100GB HD and DVD+-RW/DL :-P Plus I only paid $999 from Circuit City w/ a $200 rebate! :-D Definitely a good buy! Bought this to replace my old P3 900Mhz IBM Laptop with 256MB of Ram and a 40GB HD... Oh and my IBM laptop's highest resolution (on the laptop was 1400).
Great Product!
Strengths: Good Speed, Not too heavy, Bright Screen, Big HDD, DVD-DL Burner
Weakness: CrystalBrite screen is a bit hard to see in lots of light due to its reflective nature. It reflect anything and makes a good mirror, but otherwise is a great screen.
This is a great product, and for the price is a really good buy, but I wish the speed of the processor was faster. That I think is this product's weakest part. The 64-bit is nice but there isn't anything to use it with...yet. Great product overall another star for Acer.
