Strengths: Performs exactly as advertised. ddr400, 2-3-2-6 1T @ 2.6v. Looks great in blue.
Weakness: SPD default is 2.5-3-3-8. If your motherboard does not allow you to change those settings manually, then you won't be taking full advantage of this RAM.
This ram is fast! It has better bandwidth performance than geil ultra platinum at the same fsb speeds, and it has the nice blue heatspreaders. It's interesting to note that the memory bandwidth of this RAM at fsb 217 is comparable with some other sticks running at fsb 250! The only weakness is that the SPD doesn't have tight timings by default. However, I can see why kingston chose to go that...
Strengths: Solid performer, no issues
Weakness: None that I'm aware of
I originally purchased four 512MB DIMMs of lower-end "generic" RAM for my ABIT VT7, but had frequent system crashes and blue screens. I wasn't even trying to overclock or anything, and the RAM was listed as tested and compatible with my ABIT board. The most important thing for me was to have a stable system. I could care less about overclocking unless I can do it reliably. I decided to purchase...
Strengths: Nice looking blue heatspreader, fairly low latencies, overclocks well
Weakness: Can't do 2-2-2 at 200mhz
I'm using this RAM in an overclocked Athlon 64 rig. The default timings are 2-3-2 at 200mhz; unfortunately I can't get this stuff to run at 2-2-2 @ 200mhz even after increasing the voltage. On the plus side, it does overclock well, especially if you loosen timings a bit. At 3-3-4 timings, I have this RAM running at 240mhz to match my Hypertransport speeds. This RAM isn't nearly as voltage hungry...
Strengths: One of the most commonly used performance ram brand when overclocking. Runs awesome benchmarks and I got mine running at 25 over default FSB rock solid.
Weakness: The price is steep for performance ram (compared to ValueRam), but if you're into overclocking at all, ram is one of the most crucial components in OC limitations.
If you want the best RAM for your setup with a name you can trust, this is it. I do alot of Photoshop, and a LOT of gaming on this thing, and I've even installed Nero and some other progs and burned DVDs while gaming and everything, not even a slight notice of a slow down(running this with a MSI K8T800 Neo FIS2R and AMD Athlon 64 3200+). This stuff is beyond AMAZING. My friends and I have been...
Strengths: OC's to PC3520 (440MHz DDR) w/ tight timings (2-3-2-5), rock stable, Winbond chips, great price ($176!)
Weakness: Would not run faster than PC3520 even w/ losest timings (3-4-4-8), it runs TIGHT and FULL SPEED up to PC3520, then stalls completely above that, but minor, afterall, it's rated PC3200.
I installed this on my new Abit AI7 w/ P4 2.6C, runs absolutely stable @ 220MHz (440MHz DDR, PC3520), 1:1, tight timings (2-3-2-5), 2.65v. Totally outclasses the Muskin PC3500 "Black" Level II Dual Channel that I purchased at the same time (the Mushkin costs TWICE as much and would not even run at its rated PC3500, even w/ the timings totally loosened, VERY disappointing). So I picked this up...
Strengths: Speed, installation
Weakness: SPD timings, price
Installed this two modules in double configuration on Asus P4C800-E Deluxe motherboard. Everything went fine but the BIOS did not recognize the memory timings correctly - I had to change them manually. Since then the system runs just grate, overclocks up to 15% without any problems. Good memory. Adding another 1Gb, running fine so far.
Strengths: Very fast ram, runs timings at 2-3-2-6 as stated. Memtest on second pass does detect 3 errors
Weakness: Runs Hot Random Reboots. Probably have to run it at a lower timings then stated Jdec code starts at 2.5-3-3-8??? why set it to that and advertize 2-3-2-6
All together decent ram. You get what you pay for. But watch out if you have a SFF since it does run hot and if you lower the timings it runs even hotter. Easy to instal and Kingston comes with a lifetime warenty ~Tech
Strengths: $208 for 1G
Weakness: none
when I bought this just last week, it was $222... now it's $208!!! grrr. Popped this baby in my new system and it soars. I love the heat spreader. Definitely better looking than the Value line (also from Kingston), though even that chip is great. 3A CAS might seem a little slow for overclockers, but it is not too noticeable. comes in a small plastic see-through package with a small folded...
Strengths: CAS Latency is very fast and 1 gig of it is great.
Weakness: Can be very expensive if you don't know when and where to buy it. I got mine for 100$ AR at outpost.com (maybe price mistake) So be careful where you buy it.
This ram has a CAS latency of 2. if you dont know what that means, I don't recommend you buy kingston HyperX ram. Stick w/ kingston value ram if you want a better trade off between performance and value.
Nice price.
Strengths: Performs exactly as advertised. ddr400, 2-3-2-6 1T @ 2.6v, and it looks great in blue.
Weakness: Problem is that the default settings is 2.5-3-3-8. If your system board doesn't allow you to change those settings manually, then you won't be taking full advantage of this RAM.
All together this is a very fast RAM for the money and it come with coolers. Can't beat that. Comes with a lifetime warranty. I will suggest this memory to anyone that wants performance at a good price.
