Strengths: Good adapter ,Lightweight, single adapter to carryaround instead of multiple adapters especially for roadwarriors
Weakness: Short cable length from wall power outlet is annoying, supplied free smartips (6) are not useful for everyone Expensive smartips and may not be available for your electronic items.
I have been using this adapter for more than 11 days and it was worth the price I bought it for at the time of purchase(51.99) I travel a lot and this replaced the "1 Pound/105 W Brick" that powers my vaio laptop and my Razr adapter . Had to buy the smarttips at circuit city for the vaio/razr(extra 9.99 each) Kensington has a "new" adapter #38004 and the adapter # 33197 are the same except that...
Strengths: Charge and run many different devices from AC, auto, plane. Thin and light. Forward compatible? Plenty of power. Automatically selects correct voltage for your device; no switches.
Weakness: Tip for your computer/device may not be readily available. Output cord is bulky, Smart tip assembly a bit large.
This is a nice adapter to always carry with your notebook computer. It can also charge your mobile phone, PDA, MP3, etc. (and maybe your electric razor in the future as well?) by changing any of the multiple tips provided. If you carry the extra provided tips with you in your car/luggage, you may be able to help out a fellow traveler who forgot his/her charger--even if they have a device that is...
Strengths: slight form factor, lightweight
Weakness: none
If you travel, your back will thank you for such a light power supply. It is good to know about the short "wall cord" before purchasing because it is a little weird to see the unit dangling from an electrical wall outlet at first. But be not afraid! The unit is so light that i haven't had it fall out of an electrical wall outlet yet. And if plugged into a powerstrip on the floor, it's a...
Strengths: Number of adapters, easy color coding, light weight, flat design, airplane compatibility, free splitter after rebate, velcro cable wrap, nice blue power light
Weakness: Odd short length AC cable, bigger than it appears online, both devices must be close to splitter (i.e. your iPod hangs off the back of the laptop on your lap), adapters are long.
The best universal adapter on the market right now but a few details keep it from being perfect. The AC cable length is something you eventually get used to but it's very short. It takes some getting used to. The splitter is free after rebate but the splitter cables are not long and I don't know if you can lengthen them with yet another cable from Kensington. I'm pretty sure you can't. So if you...
Strengths: Plenty of power (120W); works on lots of devices w/ flexible tips; lightweight; not thick
Weakness: Short cable to AC output; long/bulky tips; Big!; Expensive
I got this primarily as a flexible power-supply for my Toshiba M65 Series laptop. The package included the tip that I needed, so nothing extra to buy. The device has the flexibility to work on an airplane (with those special DC jacks), in your car (cigarette adapter) and via AC wall outlet. While it is more expensive than just buying the custom one from Toshiba, that one only works w/ AC, and not...
Strengths: Light weight, compact (thin), runs cool, good power output
Weakness: Short cord from adapter to wall socket
Wow! I am delighted to find a power solution that gets rid of additional bricks from my carry-on baggage. I usually travel with a laptop (IBM), digial camera (Sony), ipod & cellphone (Motorola). This power adapter eliminated all of the power supplies saving space and weight in my baggage. I also bought the splitter to charge two devices at the same time, comes in very handy.
Strengths: runs off of AC or DC power, can power various devices
Weakness: none so far
I've found this adapter to be very handy for travelling. I can charge my laptop, cell phone, and ipod with it, so I only need to carry one charger instead of three. I did have to buy tips for my laptop and cell phone, though. Kensington claims that they'll send you one laptop tip free, but two months after calling them I still haven't received it. I ended up just buying one.
Strengths: Small, Thin, works with Dell laptops smart interface.
Weakness: Failed after two hours. Very short AC cord.
I bought this unit new at the Circuit City Liquidation sale for $45 (one of the few apparent bargains there). I immediately opened it and began charging my Dell D610 notebook from an 12V outlet in the car. It worked fine. When I got home I plugged the unit into AC power, and it came on for a couple of minutes then shut down. I went back outside to the car and tried it in the car again--nothing....
Strengths: Versatile power supply for multiple electronics.
Weakness: Not enough tips shipped with item.
I needed a power supply to power my PDA, laptop, cellphone, and eReader while traveling. This works wonderfully. I just wished there were more tips shipped with the power supply. Getting more tips takes a little searching, but I found tips to power all the items.
Power to go...
Strengths: Lightweight, compact, lots of power
Weakness: runs hot, case zipper doesn't stay closed
I own both the iGo and this Kensington and would go with the Kensington hands down if there were more tips available. The short, AC-side cord, has drawn a lot of complaints but I personally don't find it that unhandy (I really dislike lots of cords all over the place). I was concerned this wouldn't have enough power for my notebook (a Sony SZ series) but I haven't had that problem. However, it...
