Strengths: much improved speech recognition in via voice and speakable items on my emac. Comfy, and folds compactly. Nice usb interface (no need for imic now).
Weakness: It is big and heavy, because of the dsp module. I was expect this to be more portable than a conventional mic and imic usb interface but it is bulkier and heavier.
It's a great product. My only complaint is the weight and size of the headset even when folded. I was hoping this would be easier to tote with my laptop.
Strengths: Good quality (noise-cancelling) microphone. Decent headphones.
Weakness: Bulkier than expected, even for a "foldable/portable" model.
I've been using this headset on a G4 Powerbook running Mac OS 10.3.3. I have not yet tried it on either a Windows or Linux system. My main purpose was to utilize the the speech recognition features built into the OS. I have a pretty streamlined workflow in which I'm using a bizzare combination of (a) custom keyboard shortcuts, (b) custom mouse button shortcuts (I have a 5-button Microsoft mouse),...
Strengths: Quality of sound, accuracy of Naturally Speaking, size and compactness
Weakness: Box hard to open, difficulty keeping on ears because of light weight
Immediately after ordering I looked at some reviews which said sound was not too good, and a couple of other comments which made me wonder if I had made a mistake. After getting and installing them, I think the only mistake I made was worrying about them. I haven't listened to "high end" earphones, but these compare to any that I have listened to quite well. The only problem I have is they are so...
Strengths: Great sound quality and suvived for 2 years rough & tough use great egronomics design.
Weakness: It does not have mute switch, expanding headset mechanism is flimsy and broke after 3 month and I super glued for my size. I would have liked speaker facility near that DSP box.
Great for VOIP call.. they should have enhanced this headset to a new model that would have speaker phone built on that DSP box. Plantronic should pay me for this Idea as I know this would be a great hit with VOIP user and those who work in call center. Pls. note Enduser need the flexibilty of switching from headset to speaker phone. there is no USB headset that provide those feature set.
Strengths: Comfortable, fair speaker sound
Weakness: Not as portable as you might think, poor mic quality.
I thought Plantronics stood for quality. I found this headset about average in quality, and less so when you consider the price. The main problem I had was hum in the mic. I even tried another headset from a friend and it did not have the hum. So, I sent it to Plantronics and they quickly sent me a referb unit. Same problem! Additionally the electronics in the cable is excessively large, making...
Strengths: Works great, sounds great.
Weakness: Poorly made.
I love the headphones, but I wish they did not made them so cheap, they fell appart. One the plastic sliders broke a tab (the other one is about to break) and the insulation is pealed off the wire.
Strengths: comfortable long cord nice mute button
Weakness: low volume
I use these for skype and other VOIP solutions and am very satisfied on the whole. The one exception is that the volume just doesn't go loud enough, even if I mess with the mixer settings. The cord is nice and long.
Strengths: foldable and long cords for usb connectivity.
Weakness: The microphone stopped working after 2 days. emailed tech support and i might have to send it back and pay extra shipping
I wouldn't recommend to any one. I am really disappointed with the qualtiy that breaks down in two days. I did not even bring it out of the house either. Sad... 2 weeks later it started to work again.
Strengths: Crisp and Clear Sound, Foldable, USB and Digital
Weakness: DSP audio interface is bulky
This DSP-400 sounds great. The audio is crisp and clear. The inline volume control is nice. The headset is foldable and very adjustable. Plantronics even gives you a decent length of cable, instead of some headsets that have a 3 foot cable. The only issue I have is that the DSP interface box is pretty bulky, and this foldable headset was bought to go with a small notebook computer for travel.
Plantronics DSP400 USB Foldable Headset
Strengths: Compact, unobtrusive microphone (easily adjusted), long cord
Weakness: none
Others have complained about this headset not folding into a compact size, but for the home workstation, this is a very good model. Sound is pristine (and folks I'm calling say my voice is very clear); the mute button is handy and lights up; and the setup is minimal to none. (Basically just plug and play on my Mac.) It is Skype compatible, too. The cord is long enough to allow one to sit several...
