Strengths: -huge capacity, useful for portable video editing and photos -super light; lighter than my PDA -actually pocket sized (fits in my coat and suit pocket) -very sleek, even sexy -useful sync software
Weakness: -the shiny plastic cover seems a bit flimsy and easily gets fingerprints on it, even from relatively clean hands -there is a soft audible hum, which may be irritating in a very quiet room
This is an amazing piece of portable hardware. It is tiny and light for its harddrive capacity, sleek, and relatively quiet (though does have a slight hum, which may annoy some). The WD Sync (based on the Dmailer) software is actually very useful for traveling. It encrypts and password protects access to the files on your drive. It will also alert others to return the device to you if it's found....
Strengths: Reliable, reasonably priced.
Weakness: Cable is short.
It\\\'s one of the most inexpensive 2.5 external hard drive in the market. I have 3 other small WD passport drives and they all work decently well. CON: One of my previous drive (120 GB) was substantially slowed when the free memory was downed to 10 GB. I would be careful to leave this drive to have at least 20GB of free space.
Strengths: Compact, 250GB, reasonable price
Weakness: Shiny exterior easy to scratch
This is a wonderful product. The hard drive is a big 250GB so you can store a lot of music and photos on it. The size is very compact; I couldn't believe how small it was, and lightweight. Perfect for transporting files from work to home. I no longer have to lug my computer back-and-forth. A carrying case does not come with the Passport but I'd recommend it to keep the surface from scratching. It...
Strengths: Very easy to the eyes.
Weakness: 5400RPM may be too slow for some.
Western Digital produced an excellent line of portable hard drives. Now that it is 250GB. There is no reason to get a lesser capacity hard drive. Worked flawlessly with Windows XP. You can easily fit this in your laptop bag. Very light weight. The only complaint is that it is a 5400RPM. However, since it is a portable usb hard drive, I do not expect it to be as fast as my internal pc hard drive....
Strengths: Ultra small for such a large 250GB capacity.
Weakness: USB cable is too short.
Compact, fast and quite. It's hard to believe that they get that much storage on a drive that fits in a shirt pocket. Plastic casing is fragile. Overall I'm very happy with this portable HD.
Strengths: very light highest available capacity at the time no power cable needed automatic sync software included
Weakness: glossy finish showcases fingerprints
Great drive, at the time of this writing (08/29/07), 250GB is the highest capacity for an external 2.5" hard drive, as far as I could find. I was concerned that my laptop would not provide enough power for this drive, but it turned out there is no problem whatsoever. Some of my friends say it gives trouble with Linux (Fedora), but I have not tried yet. Also, compared to other drives of this size,...
Strengths: Very thin, and light for such a high capacity. Noiseless operation.
Weakness: Short USB cable, but while traveling its an advantage.
Its very light and thin for such a high capacity. Noiseless. Has 2MB buffer memory for faster transfer. Has a flap on the USB port to keep it clean. 250GB and 160GB does not have huge cost difference so I ended up with this one instead of 160GB for which I was planning. Works well with my NAS (Linksys NLSU2). I formatted in EXT3 format and it is working perfectly. I am using it primarily to keep...
Strengths: Fast, quiet and cool
Weakness: none
I got it for a good price. The drive runs fast, quiet and cool. I wish it could come with 5 year warranty like seagate. Inside is a 8MB cahse sata 2.5" hard drive. Somebody took it out and put it into laptop. It is much cheaper than any internal 250gb hard drive.
Strengths: size, price
Weakness: none
I was going to get the 160GB but this one had a lot more memory but for a bigger price. It is the best thing i have every bought. Thank you Western Digital!!! Was easy to install and i am using it like a 250 gb memory stick. I will never run out of space

Top
I like this drive.
Strengths: energy efficient, reliable
Weakness: slower than 7200 drive
I'm happy with this drive. Requires little energy and runs cool. Doesn't bog down with large file transfers. Haven't had any problems playing a/v files from it. Since the operation instructions are on the Passport 250 the computer instantly recognizes it when attached. A real delight to use between laptop and desktop.
