Strengths: 16MB Buffer
Weakness: Died after just 1.5 years
The hard drive worked fine for 1.5 years, but last night, the MK6022GAX died after some loud screeches. I expect more than 1.5 years out of a hard drive!
Strengths: Fast, quiet and large capacity for a notebook computer hard drive.
Weakness: My experience with these hard drives are that they last approximately a year and then they die.
I have had this Toshiba notebook for a little over 3 years. In that three years, the hard drive has died 3 times. The first time, it was still under manufactur warrenty and it was taken care of in a week. The second time, it was under store "protection plan" in which it took over 3 weeks to have fixed. The third time, I had no warrenty and protection plan, so I opened up the notebook to see what...
Strengths: Fast, easy to install and format
Was very pleased with the speed of delivery . The disk was purchased to replace a smaller (30Gb) unit in a portable storage device for my camera. upon receipt it took less than 15 minutes to swap the disks and begin the format. It works perfectly. I chose the MK 6022 GAX due to its speed and buffer size as compared to a larger disk.
Strengths: Very quiet, decently fast, three year warranty
Weakness: A bit pricey
This drive has worked perfectly so far. I have used it with both Macs and PCs and have partitioned and formatted it over and over for different purposes without problems. The drive has yet to give me any trouble. Even better, there is a three year warranty on the drive (though it is from the manufacturing date rather than the purchase date). Anything greater than one year is becoming harder to...
Strengths: Seemingly good review from Xbitlabs.com, 16MB cache, 5400rpm, quiteness
Weakness: First drive DOA
Drive only clicks and does not spin up and is being RMA'd. Price seems good for a 60GB, 5400RPM notebook hard disk, only if I can get it to work... Will use to replace IBM/Hitachi 40GNX, which is too noisy for me.
Strengths: 60 GB, 16MB buffer. 5400 rpm
Weakness: not as silent as some seagate hds i have used
I replaced the 20 g drive that came in my dell d600 with this drive. System seems to run a little faster, and now I have lots of room for music and movies.
Strengths: economically easy to install works out of the box
Weakness: fails in less than 6 months while positioned on desk with no movement 1720-SMART Hard Drive detects imminent failure (failing attr : 05)error can not be repaired with chkdsk or HDD Regeneration
If you want a stable non-failing hard drive, AVOID the Toshiba MK6022GAX. The Hitachi DK23FB-60, which works in HP Compaq notebooks, hard drive could be substituted for this drive.
Strengths: It worked out of the box, Can't ask for much more.
Weakness: Not that I didn't know what I bought it ... but these things are pretty slow. I can see the seek time on this drive as well as other 5400rpm drives suffer.
Be careful when doing torrents or other seek time intensive activities with these kind of drives. Other than that it has been a solid drive to work with. But the true test will come in 2-3 years, honestly.
A 5400 RPM, 2.5" drive with 16 mb of cache. It surely performs, but does it plumb the sub-20 dBA depths or remain in more audible >20 dBA territory?
Top
This HD is NO good
Strengths: Look at other reviews...But what are strengths when the thing only lasts a year
Weakness: First drive I bought lasted 2 years and then died. Second drive died after 2 months.
This drive has serious problems. All the reviews about the drive lasting 1 - 1.5 years are true. This may have great specs for a drive, but I would go with a drive that lasts longer.
