Strengths: Good Value, SATA power not required.
Weakness: Not really anything except seek-time if you're really fussy about that stuff.
I have two of these set up in RAID 0 right now in my system and have not yet experienced any long wait when writing/reading to these drives, they are pretty fast. SATA Power is not required and at less than $1 per Gb. it is a good value. I've used Maxtor drives before and never had a problem.

Maybe not so reliable

Weakness: Failed before 2-yr mark.
Got my Dell XPS in April 2004. It came with the DiamondMax Plus 9 120Gb SATA as the master drive. It just cratered this weekend (March 2006) and I'm having a replacement sent. I can still boot to safe mode so I hooked up an external drive and started saving data. Got repeated access denied, i/o errors and "source could not be read" while I was trying to save my files, including a lost sector...
