Weakness: only one firewire 400 - can't daisy chain
It is great. Don't know what other reviewer was talking about in terms of an on/off button - works like every other external hard drive. Lot of storage for the best price.
Strengths: Nice to look at
Weakness: The Iomega design team thought it would be nice to include an ON BUTTON. Wrong!
The ON button MUST BE PUSHED every time the computer is powered up, either that or the UltraMax must be left ON all the time. Why and what were they thinking? This stupid ON button will only function as an ON button. That's right, it will not turn the UltraMax OFF. I returned the UltraMax and don't bother complaining to Iomega about this design flaw—they are NOT interested.
Strengths: Nice stackable design, good air flow, reliable.
Weakness: Can't daisy chain FW 400.
This is a great hard drive. Very nice design, indicator lights are easy to see, excellent cooling system. Reliable and fast, with no waiting every time it cycles up. The on/off button is easy to access and works like every other hard drive I've used. Wish it had extra FW400 port but that would increase its price. Excellent value for the price.

Faulty power supplies--don't buy
Strengths: price only
Weakness: faulty power supplies, unreliable Barracuda drives
Have gone through 2 of them now, the first one dying just before the warranty expired, and the replacement lasting just under a year. Power supplies kept dying. Also, too many people complain of the quality of the Barracuda Seagate drives they use. I won't buy Iomega to replace my newly dead drive.
