Strengths: Smaller & Lighter Weight than previous external parallel, The best thing I like is it small and fast. But everyone have a different experinence.
Weakness: No on/off power button. The drive would hang on occasion when I sought to copy files and would force me to reboot my computer. The motor eventually failed - 10 days after warranty expired.
i am not very much satisfied with this product,I purchased three of these external drives I got in good price in clearence - for use in making quick transfers of data files and some minor backup work. One of the drives has worked quite well; The other has displayed eratic behavior and performance, often forcing me to reboot my computer to stop the drive from hanging up (Windows XP describes the...
Strengths: The 750 MB usb drive was a good medium for transfering files between work and home. It was relatively speedy and had an ease of use that was similar to a floppy drive.
Weakness: No on/off power button. The drive would hang on occasion when I sought to copy files and would force me to reboot my computer. The motor eventually failed - 10 days after warranty expired.
I purchased two of these external drives - one for each of my two computers for use in making quick transfers of data files and some minor backup work. One of the drives has worked quite well; it does not hang when trying to access it or copy to or from it. The other has displayed eratic behavior and performance, often forcing me to reboot my computer to stop the drive from hanging up (Windows XP...
Strengths: Compact, fast (when using USB 2.0), & quiet. Cool looking also.
Weakness: None
Excellent for archiving and backing up large folders and files. Great also for transporting large folders / files from one computer to another when a LAN / Broadband network connection is unavailable or impractical. Also good is its backward compatibility with ZIP 250 (write / read) and ZIP 100 (read only)disks.
Strengths: Smaller & Lighter Weight than previous external parallel port Zip 100's.
Weakness: Front eject button flush with case, not raised, and located a bit under the extended lip of an inserted cartridge; not easy and convenient to locate and depress.
Annoying whine for 60 seconds before and 60 seconds after otherwise noisy operations during which nothing else appears to be happening. Clunking and banging had me wondering about lubrication. I was unprepared for this USB model device to also require continuous connection to 110 volt power supply (included) to apparently provide 5 volts for its operation. Either, my fault for not doing enough...
Strengths: fast, dependable
Weakness: the software provided with the unit apparently does not integrate entirely with the Mac OSX environment
For about the last 9 years I have used a succession of Zip drives--100mb, 250mb and now 750mb and I have been more than pleased with the results. Now in making the switch to system 10 (10.3.6) I find that I can no longer utilize the option of having the drive autoeject the disk at startup and shutdown. In talking with the tech support people at Iomega, I was told that this was because Apple has...
Strengths: Files can be modified the same as if on the hard drive. There is enough capacity to handle large files...unlike the older 100MB discs. Makes it very easy to move files from one computer to another.
Weakness: If the disc gets messed up, they charge a very high price to retrieve data.
I started with a 100MB drive years ago, upgraded to a 250MB and now 750MB. Many newer laptops no longer have floppy drives so to have a way to quickly store files and/or move them to another computer, a USB zip drive is very handy. The size of the drive has shrunk over the years so it is now very easy to pack for travel. It's just a nice inexpensive option for moving information.
Strengths: Easy setup, and it works.
Weakness: Write speed is a little slower than read. IOMEGA DOES NOT INCLUDE A DISK WITH THE RETAIL PACKAGE. YOU HAVE TO BUY THEM SEPERATELY!
I've had zip drives for years, from the beginning, and this one is the best one (except for the fact that they don't include media with it. Should I mention it again?).
Strengths: N/A
Weakness: N/A
Smaller & Lighter Weight For about the last 4 years I have used a succession of Zip drives--100mb, 250mb and now 750mb.Excellent for archiving and backing up large folders and files. Great also for transporting large folders / files from one computer to another when a LAN / Broadband network Very compact that I liked a lot The best thing
Strengths: Compact, fast and good looking with proper color combination
Weakness: Writing speed is little slow.
Very good for taking backups. Easy option for moving data and is less expensive. Drive is slick so easy to take while travelling. Also good about it, is its backward compatibility with ZIP 250 (write / read) and ZIP 100 (read only) disks. I would recommend it to buy because of nice experience so far so good.
