Strengths: Breath taking clarity andcolor
Weakness: None
If you are looking for a LCD monitor you should do yourself a favor and grab the NEC/Mitsubishi 1760V from New Egg. It qualifies for free shipping and therefore saves you as much as $200 from a local retailer. The monitor is absolutely trouble free in it's set up and comes with a nice software package for scaling your icons and menus. The clarity and color of this monitor is no less than amazing!...
Strengths: great clarity, works just like a crt (only smaller)
Weakness: none
This is my first lcd monitor. I was a little worried about some of the negative things about lcd: dead pixels, native resolution, trailing effect (from slow response time), viewing angle, lack of brightness. However, all my worries are gone with this monitor. I have no dead pixels (maybe I'm lucky). The native resolution of 1280x1024 is actually clearer than crt (I'm used to 1152x864 on 19", but...
Strengths: Very clean and clear picture. Very simple plug-and-play, no reading the manual for optimum picture quality. We have 6 of these so far and reliability has been 100% to date.
Weakness: No DVI input. Why make a digital screen with the only input option being analog? Colors aren't quite as 'loud' as a couple of ViewSonics and Samsungs I've seen, but that's a matter of personal taste.
We've purchased 6 of these 1760V monitors to date, all from NewEgg.com for 405 dollars shipped. Perfect reliability and 100% user satisfaction to date. We will be replacing all 40 of our CRTs with this model as budget allows. The complimentary "Liquid View" software that you can download is a very nice utility that allows you to run this monitor at its native resolution (1280x1024) and not have...
Strengths: --Resolution as Specified --Refresh Rate 16ms(no ghosting, unless Vsync is off in games) --Adjustable Stand --Asthetically appealing
Weakness: --Viewing Angles are nothing special. --Covering (visable layer) seems to be made of a rough plastic-like material - As MOST LCDs, nothing like CRTs
Overall, I was very satisfied with the product, considering I got it for far cheaper and it offered better performance at more than half the size and power consumption than my original CRT. Very pleased with the adjustable stand. If you're interested in GREAT clarity, go for monitors featuring Xbrite technology. As of now, only Sony offers this. Check out these models SDM-HS74P --- SDM-HS74P/B
Strengths: Nice monitor - small profile fits nicely on my desk. small border allows you to put 2 monitors next to each other and have minimal distance between the two screens.
Weakness: Very bright when you first turn it on - you need the Naviset software to tone it down a bit.
The refurbished models arrived in factory packaging (which say NEC refurbished on them) but were in perfect shape. Of the two reconditioned monitors I received, there was only one dead pixel between them. The refurbished models are the way to go - they don't have quite as long a warranty period but they are significantly cheaper.
Strengths: Controls Quality of image Unit size
Weakness: None
I highly recomend this monitor. It is one of the best units I've own so far. It is my first LCD, and after reading all reviews decided couldn't go wrong with such respected brand.
Strengths: Excellent color, would not go back to CRT. Excellent Slim design and was beautiful. The response time on gaming was also excellent.
Weakness: One major drawback to unleashing the full potential of this monitor was that there is no DVI connection.
Excellent monitor i loved :) 17" wasnt big enough for me i bumped up to 21" and sold this for a bargain price of 350$ :)
NEC MultiSync 17" LCD Monitor
Strengths: Very clear (450:1 contrast ratio), no dead pixels, very fast refresh rate (14 ms)
Weakness: Auto-tune keeps it very bright. You'll have to keep it at 50% brightness for normal use. As it ages, monitors tend to dim, so this is actually ideal. Analog.
The very best flat panel I have ever owned. I highly recommend this to the first time buyer or serious gamer because of its low price and high quality.
