Strengths: looks good, quiet, good cooling
Weakness: had to remove mobo
I bought this on sale for under $20, and I think that it was a great deal. This thing looks very cool in my nine hundred case, it is very quiet, and cools very well. I am running my E6400 at stock speed and it runs 35C idle and 42C full load. It also cools the area around the CPU due to the fan blowing down. Installation was not bad, except I had to remove the mobo to put the backplate on. Very...
Strengths: - looks fantastic - pretty quiet
Weakness: - hard to install - not as quiet as you might want - middling thermal performance
This was very, very difficult to install, and was neither quieter nor cooler than my arctic freezer pro 64. It *is* nice if you don't have much clearance overhead, since it is very low profile. On the other hand, it does spread out a little, so it's hard to remove/install RAM.
Strengths: Cools very well; great OC potential. Silent. Nice LED's.
Weakness: May not fit with all motherboards.
This is my favorite cooler to date. It was a little struggle getting it onto a socket 775 motherboard (just tokk some manual labor), but wow does it look nice it cool perfectly. My E6600 is running at 20-C!! Watch out, this may not fir with all motherboards if the CPU socket is too close to the power supply. On my Gigabyte GA-965P DS-3, this is right up against the Power supply. Overall, is...
Strengths: 120mm fan for massive air movement with minimum noise Excellent cooling for overclockers Blue LED's are a bonus
Weakness: Huge size makes for difficult install in MicroATX cases, Due to size also blocks 2 DIMM slots (MicroATX) Tension from spring loaded screws needs a lot of pressure to install.
This is one huge brick of metal, but it keeps my CPU totally cool. I currently have it installed in a MicroATX case, albeit a tight fit, it works great. I did have some difficulty getting the spring loaded screws close enough to the stand offs to make contact and start threading. It took a lot more effort than I wanted, but the CPU is not crushed and working fine so far. It's time for some...
Strengths: Overclocked my core 2 duo e6300 to 2.6GHz stably with this HSF, cool blue LED lights, very quiet
Weakness: none
The blue orb rocks! I used this CPU cooler on 10 gaming rigs I've built for friends and it lets me overclock stably on air cooling. It does a great job cooling and as an added bonus, it is whisper quiet! The blue LED is a nice touch for those of you case modders. I highly recommend this CPU cooler as it provides adequate cooling for today's hot-running processors with little to no noticeable...
Strengths: 120mm fan, huge heatsync, blue LEDs built in
Weakness: none
This is an amazing cooler that really gets the job done. Installation is a snap, and support is great. When the fan made noises, Thermaltake provided a replacement fan free of charge. The blue lights accentuate the case nicely.
Strengths: Massive cooling fins, copper base, blue LED light, very quiet operation, easy installation.
Weakness: Heavy, a lot of force needed to tighten hold-down screws.
The Thermaltake Blue Orb II is am excellent CPU cooler and definitely performs as advertised. Installation is quite easy although you will have to remove your motherboard to install the heatsink brackets. Overall, my CPU temp had dropped around 4 degrees C on my Intel Dual Core processor. Motherboard temp is down also. The 120mm fan moves a lot of air and also helps cool the other motherboard...
Strengths: Good performance for the price and looks great
Weakness: Difficult to install
I chose this cooler first because the performance is great for the price. To get any significant rise in performance you would have to spend almost double. Plus this cooler fit in well with my setup (case: Thermaltake VA8003BWS and PSU: OCZ GameXStream OCZ600GXSSLI). It was a little difficult to install though. You have to press pretty hard to get the screws down to the holes because there...
Strengths: Good overclocking capability, nice look, reasonable price, relatively quiet,
Weakness: This thing is huge and you may have some problems with physically fitting it inside the case. Also must install RAM first to make it easy.
Overally I am satisfied with the price that I paid and its performance. It is quite heavy though. Pretty close to the Zalman. Pairing this with one of the new Core 2 Duo will be just fine as the Core 2 still does not emit much heat.

Blue Orb II
Strengths: Blue LED
Weakness: Heavy
The Blue Orb II cools my P4 3.2GHz good although you'd think it would do better since it's so big. Installation requires the removal of the motherboard but the Orb clears all components on my Asus. The Orb is not as quiet as others have said. I think it is mostly wind noise more than motor hum. Overall, the Blue Orb II is a satisfactory cooler and the blue LED light is a cool feature but I was...
